If you make a bad hit on an animal with a semi then you can get a follow-up show too quickly. People who are obsessed with bolts want to make sure it suffers a little longer if you only wound it. Sadistic bastards!
No, doing your part means everything you do to prepare for the shot. Ever since I was old enough hold a gun, and my Dad and Grandad took me out to show me how to shoot it, I've tried very hard to make sure I do it right. 99% of shooting is the guy holding the gun, any gun.
I'm not saying that people with bolt guns can't make a follow up shot fast. I know they can from watching my Dad shoot his Parker-Hale .303. That's not the reason I use one myself. I use it because my Dad got it for me, and it's always treated me well as long as I treat it well. It won't let me forget if I don't, and sure, that can be an issue.
My BAR doesn't group like my M700. I don't expect it too. (the 700 is better than I expected, really). But I can hit that 300m gong off my front rest just as much.
To dismiss autos completely isn't right.

Of course. They like to chase grasshoppers and such down range. It makes then a bit more of a challenge.
My BAR holds 5 shots. The hardest part is making sure you hit it when it's in the middle of the swing, but it's easy once you know how.

. Trashnell scopes are known to self destruct when mounted on junk, semi auto rifles(BAR for example). Ask your daddy, he will tell fill ya in.

How do you know it was a Trashnell, it coulda been a Taschore or a Scummins. All such scopes are used by poachers, newbies and other such bottom feeders.
Buy a better gun and stop generalizing across and entire class of firearm. Either you have a crap semi-auto gun or you can't shoot, or both. I do fine with semi-auto thank you very much, and also thank you very much for perpetuating yet another anti-gun/anti-hunt argument and bringing it into our community. I swear, gun owners are their own worst enemy.
Tell me Todd, why do you need to hunt with a gun when snares or leg traps will work perfectly fine? I mean come on, I've got a 50 year old 30-06 who's bolt jams and stovepipes on ejection, that must mean all BAs suck too...
