I've got a gen 1 razor HD LH 3-15x42 (hsr-4 reticle) and a gen 2 LHT 3-15x42 (HSR-5i reticle). Both have stiff magnification rings but they're usually on the lowest power. I've had zero problems with them and have easily identified deer at last light when the rest of my group couldn't.
The Gen 1 was 1150 at the time, and the gen 2 was 1450 on sale. Would I buy them for nearly 1800 now? not sure...there's some stiff competition out there. I know that I wouldn't touch a leupold with a ten foot pole but I may be inclined to go with a nightforce if I were to buy again.
To me, leupold is like the Harley Davidson of the scope world....totally relying on their name to keep the profits going without even bothering to try and keep up to the competition. Look where they are now..back of the pack, outdated reticles, weak features, mediocre glass, high price. No thanks.
