This is a great scope on par with the VX5HD.

Well that just cant be cuz Vortex are just junk, according to many knowledgeable members on here. Great stickers though and Bushnell 4200s are the best also. If you have three scopes of a certain brand and start selling them, well that just proves it rite there that Vortex are garbage. Theyre so bad they cause users to see solar flares, but only on setting three. One time at bandcamp!! You guys are hilarious. Everyone knows BARSKA rules the optics world.
I don't hear of very many people using warranty for the PST, AMG or Razor lines. And they've sold alot of those scopes.
They sell a lot of scopes and have incorporated the Chinese build a ton of stuff, sell it and swap out the bad, then don't spend any time fixing, just replace and move forward.I don't hear of very many people using warranty for the PST, AMG or Razor lines. And they've sold alot of those scopes.
Most outfits have products made to a certain price point, for sure, from tools to guns and cars!

I think.vortexes ability to undercut the competition and offer the best deal in a wide variety of price points would be the key to their success. Leopold plays this game too, but they can't beat vortex in the race to the bottom. Bushnell has been offering cheapo imported scopes for much longer but subjectively speaking vortex seems to do it better (compare a crossfire with a banner, no contest imo).
I might come across as a vortex fan but my hunting rifles wear mid range Leupolds (vx3 etc) and "low end" S&B.
For me they're the honda civics or glocks of optics. Decently affordable safe bet. Not the fanciest thing out there and almost every vortex optic can be beat by other brands if you want something nicer but if you just want something good that works for a reasonable price with no risk it's a good choice.
Dealers are likely incentivized to carry the line. Margins are probably good, so Volume dealers can offer good price points, revolving sales and capitalize on marketing of warranty. Dealers also have few touch points as warranty is on the buyer to ship back. Just like 0% financing warranty cost is built in to the product line. So quality is lower which is why so many people use the warranty on entry consumer lines. Good gig for dealers not consumers. I would assume the higher end lines suffer the same when comparing to good quality German glass.
I don't pay for warranty I pay for quality in product. JMO
I've got a gen 1 razor HD LH 3-15x42 (hsr-4 reticle) and a gen 2 LHT 3-15x42 (HSR-5i reticle). Both have stiff magnification rings but they're usually on the lowest power. I've had zero problems with them and have easily identified deer at last light when the rest of my group couldn't.
The Gen 1 was 1150 at the time, and the gen 2 was 1450 on sale. Would I buy them for nearly 1800 now? not sure...there's some stiff competition out there. I know that I wouldn't touch a leupold with a ten foot pole but I may be inclined to go with a nightforce if I were to buy again.
To me, leupold is like the Harley Davidson of the scope world....totally relying on their name to keep the profits going without even bothering to try and keep up to the competition. Look where they are now..back of the pack, outdated reticles, weak features, mediocre glass, high price. No thanks.
Great comparison
