Why vortex!!!

The warranty is a huge selling point. I also don’t have a huge budget for anything really.. I buy off friends and family when they upgrade.. I’m a plinker/ beginner hunter vortex gets the job done.

Their warranty on a good for if YOU screw up your scope by hitting it against a tree or having it fall down a mountain side.

They support the shooting sports in Canada more than any other Optics company. Their scopes fit many people’s budgets and needs. I don’t own a single Vortex product because of personal preference. If you’re not sure what you want but have a pretty good idea of what you need Vortex is an easy choice, holds its value pretty well and is easily sold off for the most part when upgrading.
Anybody and everybody can turn out a lemon. You get what you pay for with Vortex just like any other brand. Seen more issues with their lower tier stuff than their Razors, Vipers, & Strike Eagles.
I also appreciate their Podcasts on YouTube. Good company doing good things for its clients. Have yet to hear a bad thing having to deal with them in any capacity.

Now for the cons:
-Their forced to manufacture in China to appease market pricing
-the venom doesn’t have illumination
-6mil turret on the DiamondBack Tactical
-their glass is heavy af

I only have 1 vortex a LHT razor 3-15 and I love the thing And I have plenty of Swarovski
And Leupold it's only a sample of 1 but I like it

I've only got 2 Vortex scopes a 3-9 viper, and a 3-15 lht razor...both have been trouble free and both have nice glass for their price points. YMMV

I don’t have much experience with them but had a few, I prefer Leupold! Vortex are heavy and bulky, so not my cup of tea! The warranty is supposed to be awesome! I do have a pair of there bino and like them!

Leupold on all since 1972 <-------------

If you want a straight up fixed parallax, sfp hunting scope Leupold is it, but they don't make a competing product anywhere in the same price range if you need features like listed below... Vortex pretty well leads the way in PRS types of competition shooting, and they have supported it from the beginning.

Love my vortex strike Eagle. Used it to great effect out to 1500 meters so far.

Who else sells a 5-25x56, FFP, Illuminated resticle, 34mm tube, locking turrets, long range optic for $1000?

This ^, or the Venom is decent too, just not as much elevation or illuminated reticle.

Athlon, Arken and a few others offer options with the features in the price range.

I recently got a razor lht 3-15x42. The top disc popped off of the elevation turret the first time i used it. It's just cosmetic and not a big deal but I was a bit disappointed for a $2000 optic. I emailed their cs and she said to crazy glue it. I emailed back and said that seemed like a pretty poor way to honor a viper warranty. Her reply was to mail it to them and they can crazy glue. I guess I'm not sure what I expected but I'm pretty turned off as it sits now. When this scope fails on my, and I fully expect it to, the new replacement they send me will be for sale.

That surprises me. Well then smack it against something and send it in for a replacement then sell it.

I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. I'm not about to sabotage something I spent hard earned money on. But if it fails I fully expect a replacement and you can bet it won't get mounted on a rifle by me.

The warranty is a huge selling point. .

I'm suspicious of any product/company that trumpets their warranty over all else.
They're basically telling you up front they think their product may fail, but... Don't worry we make enough money of of them we can afford to replace yours if need be :)

Vortex outsells everything else combined, especially when you include package gun sales in that number. They have a pile of patents that they license out to other brands as well. Just about every legitimate sports optics company licenses Vortex patents.

I have never had a Vortex product require any warranty work yet, out of the following:
Crossfire II 3-9x40
Crossfire II 4-12x44
Diamondback HP 3-12x42
Viper 3-9x40
Strike Eagle 4-24x50
Strike Eagle 5-25x56
Razor LHT 3-12x42
Razor Gen II 4.5-27x56
Diamondback HD 8x42 (binos)
Viper HD 12x50 (also binos)

I have scopes/sport optics from Bushnell, Burris, Leupold, Zeiss, and Nightforce as well, I won't pretend that some of their competitors don't have a leg up on them in some categories but as a whole, their products are very good to excellent. You hear a lot about them because there is more Vortex out there than anything else, by quite some margin.

Only Vortex scope I've had fail was a Gen 1 Viper after 850 or so rounds of 50 BMG the elevation turret fell off. They replaced it and it's been on a .223 ever since. I have other Vipers and Razors and they haven't failed. I've sent more Leupold optics in for warranty than any other but I also have many Leupolds. I've also sent in Swarovski, Ziess and Leica optics for service but their warranties are a big pain in the ass.

Stick to the upper end of Vortex optics and you probably won't have a problem. Their cheaper models are built to a price point and if you go that way you will be happy to have their warranty. Lower end scopes of any brand tend to have more problems than the higher end models.

I've sent a few Vortex red dots in for warranty but they have also had the schit kicked out of them so I'm not unhappy with their performance at all.

Except vortex touts their warranty covering stupidity and not just any manufacturing defects. That is a selling point

So after all of this I finally went and got myself a vortex sparc ar red dot. On setting 3 the dot actually starts to deform and turn into a star or what looks like a solar flare. (Must be a new feature they have). Sticking with a holosun or anything better from now on I think. But if any vortex Bros have a sticker I wouldn't mind one for the tool box so let me know.

They make good stuff for the most part. You will always get what you pay for with every brand. I get a kick out of some of the crusty old dudes in this thead. Haters gonna hate!

That feature maybe the red star over China…
