Why vortex!!!

I've not had troubles with any of mine, and I quite like the glass on the Vipers and Strike Eagle's I have. The DBacks remind me of Bushnells, but seem to be holding up just fine. I bought a Crossfire once to put on an old beater rifle to use as yet another "spare", and immediately decided not to do that again. Crossfire are cheap and they feel like it. Some people may like them and may not have issues with them, but for the bit extra I'll stick with the Dback or Vipers.

Warranty I regard as excellent insurance if I screw up or an accident happens. Nice feeling knowing I won't be out another couple grand because of an oopsie.

As others have said, they are quite active in the hunting and sport shooting communities and seem to be more in-tune with their customer base.

I know plenty of guys who like their Leupolds, and granted they are nice for what they are. However, they just feel to me like they are leaving themselves behind instead of keeping up with the features and tech that is more prevalent nowadays. Call me crazy, but I kind of like being able to slap nice glass with side adjustable parallax, illuminated MRAD recticles, and matching MRAD turrets on my rifles. Is it going to be relevant in all hunting situations? Heck no! But it sure floats my boat and is what I'm used to and most comfortable with because I practice with them in my target rifles.

Not really, they haven't been good since they were a mid-priced Bausch and Lomb offering. People on CGN keep getting caught up in the whole Japanese glass mystique with the Elites, meanwhile sport optics have evolved a lot in quality and repeatability since then, especially at the low end.

Elite Tacticals are great scopes (LRS, XRS, LRHS, DMR, etc). Elite 3k/4k, I'd pass and get a Fullfield IV, VX-Freedom, or Viper instead.

They are a good budget sight, with good reviews and they work well. Not everyone has 1000's of dollars to spend on a sight so Vortex fills the void between cheap junk and expensive high end.

(Must be a new feature they have). Sticking with a holosun or anything better from now on I think. But if any vortex Bros have a sticker I wouldn't mind one for the tool box so let me know.

^ lol yup, it's not vortex fault you have astigmatism.

I said it before but I think emotion and marketing play a pretty big role in guys choosing 15-30 year old B&L, Bushnell elite etc over made in Phillipines vortex (and formerly quite good made in Phillipines redfields)
 
No idea why, first time I ever saw Vortex, couldn't wrap my head around them. Leupold dropped the ball many yrs ago to live on their rep, and got surpassed by many companies, now they are playing catch up in my estimation. And some of the games being played with the reticles, turret functions, on differnt price level scopes gets me scratching the noggin at times. Lot of good product out there, but, many folk don't want to do the research on it to find them.
 
Sometimes spending 500 and up for a scope isn't in the cards or really a big benefit to your application
I picked up a Burris E1 and a Redfield revolution within the last month used, and I'd say both are superior to Vortex and will easily perform well on a couple of small caliber Savages I have for guests to play with.
They are good sunny weather scopes, not 10 minute after sunset scopes
 
Not a vortex fan by any means, but have tried a couple low end ones. Had a diamondback shortly after vortex came into existence and seemed about as clear as a bushnell banner. A week later replaced it with an elite. I do have a crossfire xbow scope that I put on my 380 xtra last year. Twice the optic that excalibur puts on their xbows in the same price point. Twice the weight it seems though to. Would I put one on a big game gun with ample recoil? Likely not.
 
I've used a couple of their red dots, why? because they cost a quarter of the price of an Aimpoint. I tend to find that companies that build things that break have great warranty service, companies that don't suck at it. Case in point, if you manage to break an Aimpoint, you'll find their service is slow, difficult to get through to and not particularly generous. It's like they took the crustiest guy in the company and he's the warranty guy. Since most folks can't break an Aimpoint, it's rare that you hear this and highly unlikely you'll ever deal with it.

I recently bought a 1-8x for my AR. It’s not the best optic I’ve owned but for the price paid it’s value isn’t in question

Haven’t really beat it up shooting competition yet, but the warranty is decent in any event
 
I have a number of Vortex scopes on my rifles and no complaints. None except one, a Venom which had problems right out of the box and which Vortex promptly replaced with a new one. No issues with the glass, currently running a Diamondback Tactical on my precision rifle and it does the job for me. I’m also running Elite DMR3’s, other Bushnells along with Zeiss and they all perform as they should. So no issue with buying another Vortex when the need arises.
 
Might have been said already but I think lots of people who are down on Vortex are basing their opinions on their lower price lines. Their Viper and Razor lines are very good. And yes, they have great marketing and put optics in lots of people hands but if they were so bad shooters wouldn't use crappy free scopes if they kept losing competitions.

I have been watching the V2 pairs shooting as of late , especially shooters like Ian Klemm and Tracy Hogg. These guys are layjng down big Vbull counts at 1,000 yards with the higher end Vortex Fclass scopes in F/TR.

Well that just cant be cuz Vortex are just junk, according to many knowledgeable members on here. Great stickers though and Bushnell 4200s are the best also. If you have three scopes of a certain brand and start selling them, well that just proves it rite there that Vortex are garbage. Theyre so bad they cause users to see solar flares, but only on setting three. One time at bandcamp!! You guys are hilarious. Everyone knows BARSKA rules the optics world.
