dan belisle said:Because we are Canadian, most of our one handed firearms are toys. You can't carry them, you can't defend yourself with them, you can't hunt with them. What's left? Paper punching and games. Yes, i am well aware of the exceptions to these scenarios, but they are pretty rare compared to the reality. May as well have a Wii Glock (and what's the attraction of these Wii games anyway? My daughter sent me on a hunt for one for ages until I found one. Looks a Nintendo on steroids to me). - dan
ian_in_vic said:Yup, I'm with Dan - I shoot paper, I'm not a cop or a soldier or a drug dealer or a gang banger, my guns cost me money they don't help me earn it. They mean alot to me, what they symbolize and the really great people I have met persuing the hobby, but it is a hobby. So in effect they are toys.
daroccot said:Yes I meant portrayed as children toys, Yes I realize that all restricted firearms are essentially paper puncher/plinking devices, although I do plan on applying for my wilderness ATC for my 629, if only as a form on protest. I'll be the first to admit I enjoyed playing "Hogan's Alley" back in the 80's (one of the first "First Person Shooter" games) but as the games became much more realistic I lost interest because I felt it wrong on a personal values level. If we end up admitting that recreational shooting is merely a hobby or a game how long do you think it will be before handguns are banned? (for the greater good). I don't mean to push my values on others, I just found the original post content to be in bad taste, no disrespect to mdbuckle, just some others my not share his sence of humor.

I must apologize for my Yukon cousin as like many Yukoners up here, they seem to be suffering from a severe case of Political Correctness at the hands of the numerous Lefties and hippies invading our space with their propaganda and NewSpeak from down south.
This disease is highly contagious and is best dealt with severely using more comedy and utter ridicule, lest they ever think for one second that at any time in the future you might one day resort to becoming serious.
