Does anybody know if and where to hunt wild boar? I've eaten it, and it is FANTASTIC. I would like to put one in my freezer. I prefer to hunt em in the wild but if there are only hunting farms for them then so be it. cheers!

Wild boar in Ont

Ont Gov't shut down game farms a number of years ago, my neighbours son went up the the one S of N Bay & shot one with a BP rifle when it was closing.

so are there any in ON to hunt in the wild?

There are a few that escaped here and there, and also it is known that some wild pigs have been making their way north from the US where they have become a real pest in some areas. Hunting regs being what they are however even if pigs become a common sight, it will be years before they are added to the "ok to hunt" list of critters. Also when it <does> become OK to hunt, expect the tag prices to be outrageous. Look at wild turkeys for example.

(RobSmith) True..lol i know the Elk hunt will be MAD expensive. I just didnt know if there were any here, is there any in CDN period to hunt? any other provinces? you said there a pest in some areas. the only reasing im asking is that there is almost zero info on them on the net and talking to MNR and reading stuff from them there isnt much from them either

In addition they are a nusance by nature so the MNR should allow open season on them like coyote

I almost fell over this fall I seen three pigs in the bush north of Pembroke looked like wild boars but must have just escaped from some farm.

AFAIK the only place in Canada where feral pigs/wild boars can be freely hunted is in Manitoba where they have been declared a pest .... No license required other than your gun-related paperwork AFAIK.
