Wild boar in Ontario

Why would a pure bread German shepherd coming from Austria have different instincts and breeding behaviour in Canada ?

What do inbred domestic dogs have to do with wild animals (kinda dumb correlation)
living in different environments
under different stresses,
wether it be hunting, trapping, weather, food supply, helicopter harassment

Maybe an Austrian home is quite different from a Canadian home (the dog’s perspective). Now use your nature/nurture argument and apply it to people.

Which one is it nature or nurture?

^ Common sense, skill and experience !

Btw. do you have some experience with inbreeding ? It for sure sure sounds like it !

Could you observe compensatory rebound or compensatory reproduction to that situation (large fenced area)? Genuinely curious
Under certain circumstances but I wouldn't call it a compensatory rebound. If a sow's litter died due to a cold snap, she would cycle again, but in no way did she produce a larger litter the next time. And if a part of the litter died, there would be no increased amount during the next one. Averages were 3-5 per litter. Of course a lot of other species exhibit this same behaviour, cats and dogs for instance have no set breeding seasons such as cervids do.
Wild boar seem to recognize when ideal times are for birthing, the gestation period is 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days, easy to remember. Most litters were born in mid-late March.

What Joel and Suther will suggest, is climate change will kill them. But then what do I know, I'm just a shade, having drowned in 1999 because Al Gore.

Put some tips on those flails boys. It will really help draw blood while you whip yourselves. How can you be a leftist, government bootlicker; yet own firearms. If only the knuckledraggers would listen. Oh ya... lol, hari Krishna, hari Krishna.....heil Trudeau.

WTF are you talking about lol

Maybe at least try to be worthwhile even if this is outside of your lane, instead of just looking to pick fights and crying about what you don't like?

Limits are needed on everything, or there won't be anything to limit.
Everything from COD to Turkeys,Boar, Elk, Bear, all need limits

Yes, no hunting boar or feral pigs in Ont. Was allowed under small game 4 or 5 years ago, but no more. Southern Ontario allows nothing larger than .270 except Essex Co. I think which is .243 which would be OK for boar.

You are talking about 2 different things.....

Under .275 for small game is a provincial regulation and is still in place in many municipalities.

Any other restrictions are municipal bylaws.

Thank you for your response.

Yes Ontario has certain regions that do not allow the use of rifles over .300, only northern ontario essentially allows it.

I grew up in Europe and I've seen boar that are quite big, thats why I'm wondering what caliber will be allowed in Southern Ontario.

Do you consider Peterborough County northern ON?

I think hogs would be in trouble where I live in Southern Ontario. Mostly farm land with small bushlots. If we wanted we could man the bush lines off, dog every bush and shoot every one that came out.

Go about 45minutes straight north of here it would be almost impossible to hunt. All bush, lots of terrain elevation for them too hide and move around.

I think the pig sighting near Hamilton was a pet pot belly pig as well.

Remember the "who would want to maintain invasive species?" part of the discussion?

https://abcnews.go.com/Internationa...etically-engineering-giant/story?id=108117977

To genetically engineer the sheep species, the DOJ said Schubarth imported parts of Marco Polo argali sheep, which is the largest sheep species in the world, from Kyrgyzstan into the U.S. without declaring the importation.

Schubarth sent genetic material from the argali sheep to a lab to create cloned embryos, which he then implanted in a female sheep on his ranch, according to the DOJ, which produced a single, pure genetic male that Schubarth named the "Montana Mountain King," or MMK.

To create several hybrid sheep, Schubarth then used MMK's semen to artificially impregnate various species of female sheep, the DOJ said.
