Wild Rose Action Shooters PRS Match- Edson Range June 11 UPDATE POST 27

And I'm in! Ought to be fun, I just changed the scope on my rifle and wont have a chance to re-zero before hand. Time to see how the old dope holds up!

I'd suggest you make time...

Borrow rifle to a buddy to set?

The recent PRS in Calgary my zero was off. Windage more precisely. It caused frustration over the day as I was having to hold way too much windage on all my shots. Windage is one thing, especially because I don't adjust (error remained constant). Elevation is a whole other deal...

I lost a ton of points due to "feeling" the situation out and missing most of my accuracy scoring stages. Thankfully shooting an AR-15 I could follow-up shots pretty quick to determine corrections.

(Found to be a poorly set zero for windage and the turret was slipping)

I agree. There is still lots of time to get it sorted out. If you go there with a scope not properly zeroed you are wasting your time. Whether the old dope holds up means nothing if your zero is off from the get go.

I am sure if you get there a little early you can zero your stuff.....every shoot I have been to has a small window where you can confirm zero, call Adam and I am sure this can be arranged.

Ok folks, I have been trying to get forms sent out, if you still don't have one send me an email at wrassignup@gmail.com . A map and final instructions for the match will be sent out hopefully the weekend before the match. Unfortunately there won't be a sight in day of, we just won't have time. I will speak to the EDFGA about sighting in the night before and camping on the range if required. If you have specific questions that need to be answered please send them to wrasalberta@gmail.com and we will try to get you sorted out. If you have a sporting scope and don't mind bringing it out please do, we could use some.

Thanks all, sorry for the delay, work is getting in the way of my fun.

Quick update folks.
-Camping is permitted at the range. I tentatively plan on being there Friday evening to start setting up as long as the regular membership is not using the range. I will warn you that the range grounds haven't been completely graveled so if it rains it could be a *little* muddy. That being said there are some campgrounds close by. Fickle lake is probably the closest. If you wish to camp on the range send me an email @ wrasalberta@gmail.com . If I have a large commitment I will try to be sure to be there a little earlier.

Some have asked about sight in, and as stated before we won't have time on Saturday. If I am there Friday we can shoot until 21:00, but my first priority is to set up the match for Saturday morning. If we can shoot and you are not a member you will have to pay the $20 guest fee to use the range, no exceptions and IOU's are not accepted.

I have also been asked for directions. Edson Fish and Game Range is a MEMBERS ONLY range, so they do not post a map to the range for public viewing. I will send a map out before the match. If you wish to be a spectator, send an email to wrasalberta@gmail.com and I will supply you with a map.

Lastly, I won't be sending out a stage brief. This is a blind match, meaning you will get a stage brief from your squad leader before you shoot the stage. I will say that you are going to need dope out to 800M.

I and the WRAS executive are pretty excited for this match, and we all hope you guys are too. This is our trial run at a PRS style match, so be gentle, but we do welcome all criticism as long as it is constructive. In the future, if you have stage designs or suggestions please let us know. Thanks for all your patience.

We will see you on the range,
Adam
VP WRAS

We are very excited for this match! We spent a couple hours today making hangers for our new steel and went through our stage briefs one more time.

I will also be there Friday night.

Holiday inn express, best western, ramada, Lakewood inn. Stayed at all for work in Edson. All are decent hotels.

We are sitting at about 30 competitors. With less than 2 weeks to go I will now open it up to the undecided. If your not sure if you can make it and decide to come last minute I will answer emails up to Thursday, June 9 to about 9 MST. . After that I may or may not have service to send you a range map.

Can't wait for the match!

Adam

Pretty bummed that we can't attend this match. Had a great time at the Milo event.
Someone please remember to take some pics and post them after the dust settles!

Looks like the weather may be little moist at the range. EDFGA is gravelling the range this week so hopefully mud will be at a minimum. The shooting positions are covered so there should be no problems there. The camping area may get a little muddy though if there is a large amount of rain. We will have to wait and see, it's not like the weather man has never been wrong....
