Wild turkey legs. Yes or No?

Unbeknownst to me, my wife already slow cooked them in a crock pot over night. Good gal. Turkey legs are her favourite part on domestic turkies. Now time to try out your tasty sounding soup recipe Hoyt! Thanks for the ideas!

I'd be real interested in knowing what all she puts in the slow cooker with the turkey legs. Any liquid or other ingred's? I do some slow cooking and have about 4 turkeys in the freezer to use up.
Thanks.

Ill have to ask her what she put into the slow cooker, but they were great! More than enough meat for the two of us, with extra for the soup she made the next day.

But I think Ive created a monster now. Wife loves the idea so much of eating truly organic, no growth hormone, antibiotic filled meat. Gonna have to get my own turkey now,, and prob some more creatures :)

All I can say is brine them, then smoke them. Or brine them, and slow cooker, and either sweet and sour pineapple, or teriyaki. Yummy!!!!

Question, how do you know it's organic? Do you know what it ate? No GM corn at any time? If so it's not organic. Free range sure, but I can't say the wild turkey I harvest/eat are organic as can't prove what it ate would qualify it as organic, certainly not certified.
The joy of Canada is there is no poultry/Turkey anywhere in this country that has had any type of growth hormone, as it's not allowed in this country.
I do love wild turkey, ate some last night and wish you all the best! Happy hunting!

I always save the legs. Cook them in the crock pot with some spices (pepper, cumin, salt, little chili powder) for a day.
Chill them and then remove all the meat from the bone (by hand) separating those tendons.
Then coarsely chop up the meat and I then add that into the huge pot of chili I had been making. Toss the meat in near the end so it doesn't get too soft.
Turkey chili !! The best

Thanks for the idea! I did just that and boy is it ever good! My brother usually discards the legs but after he has a taste of this, I'm betting he will change his mind!

I do my legs in the crockpot too. Mine come out more like pulled pork.... A little salt, pepper, thyme, couple table spoon of olive oil and one cut up lemon(all rubbed into the meat by hand). Place meat in crockpot add a quarter cup of orange juice. Slow cook for 8 hrs..... then remove the meat from the bones by hand, the meat just falls off the bones easily... put the meat back into the crockpot, add 1/3 cup of bbq sauce and continue to slow cook for 2 hrs.... it does and will taste great...

The legs make a great pot of soup just follow moms chicken soup recipe ,you will never throw away another turkey leg and you would be amazed how much meat is on the drum and thigh Dutch

It boggles my mind that people would throw them away. I'd feel incredibly guilty.

No doubt...we cook up the guts too and make a paste for flatbread, eat that with pickled suckers. Feet get boiled and the liquid drank like tea. Anybody allow any waste of a bird should do time behind bars. We even use even feather for lures to catch pike in the summer.
This is how I stay we stay really healthy as you can see from me in my profile pic.

That's a waste...."drumstick" can be a little tough and a lot of cartilege etc, great for soup....HOWEVER, the thigh is pure meat. Butterfly it of the bone and you get to very good pieces of great meat.
