Wilderness carry permit for wife in Ontario

I want to go hunting blackbear. After lots of huggling my wife agreed to come with me - if she can bring her Smith & Wesson 686 revolver loaded with some .357 magnum. She doesn't want to hunt, she just wants to photograph the nature.

What's easier - getting the wilderness carry permit for her or getting another wife??

In your case, you don't need a rifle. Just run faster than her.

PS. When they ask you what did the bear look like, give them a false description and hint us on the location.... you know.... most bears are reluctant to eat wifes nowadays. One bear said many of them taste like those sealant tubes.... whatever he meant.....;)
 
Morgayne: a permit to carry your restricted handgun in the wilderness for self defense. Hunting with it is a big no-no.

otherwise my wife is quite a good girl, usualy I don't want to feed her up with bears. :) But of course there is always room for improvement, and now this hunting-problem is the most serious one with her. :) Lot of people would be very happy with a wife who has her own revolver. :)

Why don't you or your wife write the CFO and ask for one? What can they do but answer?

About 20 years ago, I heard a story on the local CBC radio that was done by a woman who wanted to get a Permit to Carry for her personal protection. She walked into the downtown Edmonton cop shop and wanted to record the process. (Her preamble was something like "Why shouldn't I be entitled to have a permit to carry a handgun for my own protection?"). Anyways, she wasn't allowed to record the event, but she ended up with her permit.

I have never heard anything more about this case, but if anyone out there knows more about it, maybe they can fill in the blanks.

I would say: have your wife apply, do it in writing and see what happens. After all, why shouldn't she be allowed to get a permit to protect her life against dangerous wildlife out in the booneys?
 
I would like to test the water before I send an application for $80.
Has anybody eve tried to apply for the ATC for hobby photographing (or any other reason not prospecting/trapping) and was approved/rejected?

Otherwise I will be happy if this is the biggest problem in my life. :)
 
I'm working on my Wilderness Carry Permit on the same premis.

If we had a couple of thousand people apply for ATC's and were refused by the CFO AND one of those citizens was subsequently injured by a wild animal, the CFO would then be liable and could be sued.

This may be the only route for loosening the CFO's grip on ATC's.

Unfortunately, someone has suffer the horror of a mauling to set the CFO straight.

So the situation is escalating - I simply wanted to take a blackbear, what people did here for hundreds of years, and now I'm in the middle of a conspiracy, and I've already spent a bunch of money on my idea. I think +40 bucks wouldn't break the bank. I will call the CFO tomorrow (if I can) and will see.. Most likely I will send the application. I will let you know.

This is a good idea. Signguy seems to be accident prone, maybe CGN should sponsor him, a bear mauling to him would be a walk in the park, and with his recent leg injury he can't run fast so the probability of success for the bear is good.:p

i will gladly volunteer my body and abi;lity to tolerate extreme pain for the greater good BUT someone has to make sure my kids get ther PALS and carry permits when there old enough :D as long as someone shoots it before it acctully kills me sounds good

Hey, I would miss Signguy even if just a part of him would go with the bear. But don't you have an excess mother-in-law? :)
