hey folks,

in the gun club I heard people saying that the RCMP had intention to reclassify the "AR15" to Non Restricted.
any thought of that?

Probably the same gun club people telling me that my Tavor is about to become prohibited. Or that hollow point ammo is banned.

Don't put stock in things that are passed around as "maybes"

The RCMP has done nothing positive for legal gun owners since they took over the gun Bureaucracy of Canada.

The RCMP doesn't make up the rules on what is restricted or not. All they do is interpret the regulations and apply/enforce them. It would take an act of Parliment to change the legislation that made AR-15s restricted. The RCMP has surprisingly little to do with it.

The AR will become non restricted, the same day they start permanently affixing the barrels to the upper so that it cannot be changed by the end use, and the upper is attached to the lower is such a way that it cannot be removed, so you can switch it with another upper that you don't even need a license to buy.

Or the same day they start putting serial numbers on barrels so that they become the registered restricted part of the gun instead of the lower. At which point barrels will be hard to get cause the US is not going to serialize them, but might be good for the Canadian barrel makers.

Something like that anyway.

So the short answer is no. Non-restricting the AR is a complicated logistical Nightmare.

R.C.M.P.? Not likely. Conservative government currently in power, maybe. Write Cheryl Gallant on her website. She's asking folks what needs to be changed with the firearms act.

Done!

Remember folks, she is on OUR side. So be respectful and present your input in a manner that makes you seem like the law-abiding, tax paying, contributing member of society that you are.

How is this different that any of the other Non-res rifles with even faster barrel change capability? Your argument has more holes than my last patterning board.

Oh, but that would be the day. I would be lined up at the store to get my hands on any AR I could and IMMEDIATELY head out to the bush and blast off as many rounds as I could get my hands on. . . sigh, I hope I see that day.

What the...? It's like you're speaking English but making no sense. Non-restricting the AR is no more complicated than restricting them was. They've been unrestricted, restricted, unrestricted then restricted again. I'd love to use my AR for a deer rifle. It's perfect and there's no logical reason in the world I can't hunt with it.

I know that Harper & co. are by far our best choice but I sadly but firmly believe that they will do nothing further for us. They've satisfied the "farmers and duck hunters" (their words not mine) with the dismantling of the LGR and I expect that they will do not one thing more to help gun owners out. Call me cynical but I believe that they feel they have little to gain by going any further to help us out, and more to lose by upsetting the ignorant masses who know nothing about guns with further loosening of restrictions. The whole LGR dismantling was nothing more than kowtowing to rural voters while doing absolutely zero for restricted black rifle and handgun owners. Individual MPs might kiss our collective asses and pretend to support us but I really think we'll see nothing more from this bunch in Ottawa. I don't mean to be so negative (and I will continue to vote Conservative because any alternative from a gun owner's standpoint is way worse) but the best we can hope for is no further restrictions. And that's just sad.

You hunt deer with .223 rem?

It's actually legal in some places.

Really what's the difference between a 243 and a 223 sending 80 gr pills at Bambi......... Like 300 fps? Not enough to be too concerned about IMHO.

And yes, I have taken many deer with a 243, with bullet weights as small as 65 gr..........

Cheers!

I thought its not legal in most provinces
