I think the RCMP said -the AR will be come unrestricted if the Leafs win the Stanley Cup.
We're screwed....and I'm a Leafs Fan..!!

Done!
How is this different that any of the other Non-res rifles with even faster barrel change capability? Your argument has more holes than my last patterning board.

You just described the XCR. Except that the barrel on the AR doesn't swap out quite as easily as the XCR's
Yeah, but are you suggesting that I can buy an NR XCR then get a 10" QC barrel for it online without a license, then just pop it on, and the rifle is still NR ?
All you can get that I can find to swap out are the same length NR barrels, jsut in diff calibres.
The Tori's had a closed door meeting a while back, discussing the revamping of the current restricted firearms and the firearms that were prohibited based on looks. They are working on reversing the old as policy from the early 90's. There was an article on CBC, google it.
Soon enough it will be non-restricted, be patient.
You don't need a license to buy a barrel. Though some businesses may request you have one if they are selling you a restricted length barrel. I bought a 14.5" barrel for my Tavor without showing my license and yes I popped it on my Tavor. Whether or not the Tavor became restricted the moment I put it on is a grey area, since I put the regular barrel back on within minutes of putting the 14.5" on.
ARs can be chambered in 6.8 SPC and 7.62x39 as well. Just saying.
.223 is legal to hunt deer in Ontario anyway...other guys can chime in about their provinces.
How is putting a 14.5inch barrel on the travor a grey area? Anything under 18inch is restricted. I do not think your logic/explanation will work in front of the judge.
It is liking saying I can run a stop sign in the car when no one is around.
Most people's AR15 will be restricted anyways if they remove the restricted by name rule. Most people have 14 inch to 16 inch barrels...which is shorter than 18 inch.
Serious discussion? Probably about once every 3 months.Haha, how often does this topic come up?
I really hope the AR-15 becomes NR, dealing with the added restrictions and the ATT is the primary reason why I haven't put it on the top of my list. The reasoning behind restricting it is weak as well, one of the primary things I brought up writing to Cheryl Gallant.
