Will CSA ever make a Steel Magazine for .223 VZ 58's?

I don't understand why they haven't made one yet. I'm hesitant to purchase and install a magwell adapter because I don't want it to alter the firearm in any way if I want to switch back and remove it. I don't like the ridiculous 5 round rifle mag rule but I would just live with it and not even consider the magwell adapter if the CSA .223 magazines were made from metal.

Are they every going to produce a metal mag?

I'd say no probably because the vz58 buzz is over. Either because everyone bought one or are nervous because of the cz 858 fiasco

I doubt it. I remember one post on Facebook where Czechpoint was claiming that their .223 mag was more durable than a PMag (which I don't believe). So if you have guys like that giving feedback to CSA, why would they feel the need to change anything?

I know that those .223 VZ58 mags feel like recycled VHS tapes, but they seem to really hold up in all kinds of weather and conditions. Has anyone here actually ever broke one or had one fail?

My vz came with a magwell adapter so I havnt even tried the stock mags. They seem tough, but who wants to fire 5 rounds anyways ?

I hate the feel and look of the stock mags ! They ooze the cheapness of a toy one would find in a dollar store but I've purposely abused mine with mag changes on concrete pads. Repeated drops would only chip them. No failures but just can't stand them.

If people would fill CSA's e-mail box up with people asking for a metal magazine, they may do it due to overwhelming demand.

CZ made a prototype Vz 58 chambered for 5.56. The pictures of it show a metal magazine.

I bought mine with the adaptor. The firearms doesn't seem to be "altered" at all. Correct me off I'm wrong but I think that's more of an issue with the 7.62 vZ58.
I run AR, and LAR mags no problem.

No issues with the 7,62. I installed mine and no modification was needed. I think that CSA is machining the small amount out of the receiver on new production. Even if you do need to machine you will be able to return to the CSA mags whenever you want. Post a picture of your mag well from the bottom of the receiver and I can tell you if you will have to machine it.

I've got a lot of use out of both the old black plastic 5.56 mags as well as the newer style transparent and never had a problem with either.
Look up the specs for TARFLON IR2500 and Zytel ST801, that is what the newer transparent mags are constructed of.
The mag body itself is TARFLON and the floor plate and follower are Zytel, these mags are as durable as any popular polymer magazine on the market today.

Anyone care to share their experience with a broken one?...*I hear crickets*.

I don't think CSA did themselves in favours with how the TARFLON/Zytel magazines feel. I have no doubt that they will stand up to the rigors of regular use but they feel flimsy. It was one of the reasons why I returned my 5.56 vz.58 in favour of the 7.62 model (that and I have a metric ton of 7.62 and didn't want the hassle of storing another calibre). I just didn't trust the magazines even if intellectually I knew they would last just as long as a polymer magazine.

That's your OCD kicking in...;)
I can understand if you prefer metal to poly but lack of durability is just a not an issue. These CSA's are as durable as any other STANAG polymer mag on the market.

Fair enough, and I would admit to some OCD issues, ha ha.

I'm not completely closed off to non-metal magazines. I find for my SKS-45 that the Tapco magazines are far less problematic than the steel magazine I bought for more money. Speaking of...anyone want to buy a 5/30 metal magazine for the SKS-45? :)
