Yeah, I know it is complicated importing things. I really do.
Still it has been years I have been waiting. It's tough.

Any hope John? Please keep trying.
I want to buy one from Marstar to get the warranty
and to support your business.

Thanks!

I don't think they have a warranty on surplus items.....they have the ironclad guarantee which is a straigtforward exchange policy if you don't like what you get.
They warranty the new commercial stuff though.

Last I heard (IIRC from Johnone himself) they were still being "manufactured" ... No news since then but since I'm an optimist I guess no news is good news ...

My problem with the Marstar site is that it lists everything they have ever had, and no just what is in stock.

It seems they are basically out of stock on everything made by norinco. haha.

They need to fire the person who does their website, and hire someone who has a clue when it comes to web design.

FWIW, Marstar purportedly owns a large quantity of Garands off-shore, but have had difficulties getting them explorted from their current location. Not sure what the status is.

i dont think marstar owns them, but i could be wrong on this one.

from what i remember jhon said he can get them but he has sevral problems with their exportation to canada, thoses problems where not going away and new UN regulation on surplus weapon shure wont make thing easier.

dont get me wrong i am a 100% satisfied marstar customer and i know that jhon is probably one of the fews guys that could pull that off but i dont think export laws and shipping issues are gona go away anytime soon

It's all about the laws and what can be imported. Red tape is an awful thing to be afflicted with!

..........??? Please, go on.....

I remember seeing them on the site ages ago but they were sold out before I had a chance to Nab one! That was what, 2001? Weren't they going for about $300? Oh god I would love one!

Found a stash.... IN South America

Just down here in Ecuador for some R&R and I found a stash of M1´s going for $250 USD. Made me almost cry... mostly because although I have an Ecuadorian firearms licence and I have my PAL, as a Canadian citizen I have to go through a million hoops to import them. It is the same paper work for one as it is for all 50 (yes, I said fifty). The worst part is that the surplus K-98´s that the gov´t sold off to their retired officers for $50 (yup fifty bucks) were almost all bubba´d - chromed and chopped... almost made me choke on my 85 cent beer! Oh well... if you think Canadian gun laws are screwy you have to see how they are here. Even worse! Besides, the ¨psychiatric¨evaluation to get a firearms licence is F$%&"D :puke:
And the worst part is that you are allowed a maximum of 4 firearms! (I bought 6 in March alone back in T.O.), so it can be worse! Although here 25 cal and 32 cal are common and not prohib, 40 Cal and higher are prohibited, and you are forbidden (thanks to Colombian guerillas) from owning any Black/Military spec firearms.
Anyway, as soon as I get back to T.O. next week, I will make sure to go out and buy some more guns, just to make myself feel better! ;)

IIRC, the Garands Johnone was looking to bring in were in Haiti. There was/is a total embargo of any non-LEO/MIL firearms transactions. If they were not looted or used during the last unrest, they may surface at some point.

199 actually for the Bredas...

300?
199?

Dream on. Marstar will sell you a receiver or a barrel for that much. Expect between 700-900 from what I heard. Marstar knows supply and demand.

They also know that if you get a whack of them in, the price will need to be low enough for them to sell ... I'd say around 500 ish would be the cutoff point unless they are in remarkable condition.

Well they can go #### them selves then. If they think they can sell a gun that they were selling for $200 before for $900, that will be the end of me buying things from Marstar. I'm Mother raised ugly kids, not stupid ones. Besides, like I said, I've seen REAL Garands going for $400 at gun shows. I won't be too upset if I have to put net furnature on an origonal garand.

I read an intersting article on 303british.com and I'm also starting to think I would rather build an Enforcer as opposed to buying an AIA look-a-like.

You people do realize that our VZ's go for 200$ or less with "tac pack" free in the country of origin right? You have seen the 100$ VZ58 parts kits in the states right?

Marstar isnt a non-profit organization and Garands have been driven up by demand. They know there are people willing to pay the price they charge for what they charge because they are the only business in town. I wont buy the garands from them because I dont beleive in the current market values to begin with, let alone what they will charge, but it is there right to charge it.

The 199 was the price that Marstar USED to sell garands for before that movie came out, shaving ryan's privates or something like that.:D
