Wilson Combat "Border Patrol" Shotgun ( NOW WITH PICS)

They're way too smooth out of the box to not be worked - no new Remington I've ever handled is as smooth as the SGT/Wilsons I've handled - mind you I've only handled 3 SG/Wilsons and 2 of those were original SGT guns before Wilson bought them out. As I originally said however, no semi-custom gun is as smooth as a full custom from a good smith - in the US they can't get the gunsmithing we can at anywhere near the same price. An example would be Vang Comp's complete guns which are a few hundred dollars more than the Wilson guns (in the US) but of course are Vang Comped and are still not pure custom guns. Looking at semi-custom guns sourced in Canada, things like a fully worked semi-production gun from S&J are a steal - a fully worked receiver for $600 is something that you won't get in the US.

So you've only handled three and two of them were prior to Wilson. Did you handle them when new or after they'd been broken in?

Not trying to be a ####, just curious. I'll be perfectly honest, I've never handled one. Never figured their was any point with those prices. I'd much rather grab an old worked in 2 3/4" Wingmaster and refurbish it to my liking. Not bashing them, I just don't see what you're getting for your money. Hell, give me an hour or two with a brand new Express and I'll have her running slick as snot. It's not exactly rocket science to deburr action bars and internals.

Well then why dont you just buy Norcs and out fit them yourself. As long as it goes bang right?

This thread is for those thinking about buying one. Seeing as you have not handled one your opinion doesnt mean anything here. Go buy one then give your review, otherwise your just spouting hot air. If you lived close id let you try mine but your not. It is the smoothest shotgun I have ever owned. That being said, is it worth 1400 bux, no i dont think so. As i said, previous, your paying for the name Wilson Combat.

That being said, you buy a Remington 870 Police MAX for the same price and its not as good of a shotgun, as ive owned that one as well. Its was picky on ammo, this gun has eaten whatever i fed it so far.

As with a lot of manufacturers you pay for the name. The reason you pay for the name is cause of the quality it ensures, WC has a reputation and are not going to send out junk with their name on it. I have emailed them with your questions, ill post the reply here when i get it. As im curious as well.

An old Wingmaster is hardly the equivalent of a Norc, but yes, as long as it goes bang every time. It sounds like you got a lemon with your 870P, every single one that I've ever used has ran well.

I'm glad that you're happy with your new purchase but even you can't see the value. You freely say that you're paying for a name.

Someone could make the same argument with the 870P vs the Express. Is an 870P worth double the price of an Express? For some it's worth it. Anyway, sorry to piss in your cornflakes, I'll refrain from further comment as it's obviously annoying you.

Enjoy the gun, they certainly do look nice.

This is the response from Wilson Combat on exactly what else they do to the gun besides what I have already listed in this thread.

Mark,
We do a complete internal reliability job that includes polishing and truing the action bars, deburring and chamber checking/refinement. They are guaranteed to work and be smooth after we work on them. We make sure all internal parts are in spec and service ready.
