Yes the 870Ps have metal trigger mechs and non MIMs extractors. The only heavyier spring is the Mag spring, the LE hammer spring is no longer used and the deburring internal parts is just Remington pillow talk lol

I've seen a lot of posts recently that claim the 870P are now shipping with the plastic trigger guards. I can't verify that though.

The parts that get thrown on to Wilson Combat would cost you what? $350 for an 18.5" Express with Rem extension you could keep, or sell for $50 or so. $55 for Speedfeed stocks, $110 for Trak Loks from Trijicon, $45 for a Scattergun Tech mag extension. Of course the Surefire forend go for what? Over $350 or so, so that would add a lot if you wanted one. Refinishing would cost quite a bit ($200+), or you could opt to do it yourself with something like Armacoat. For those that are inclined to do the work themselves it can be done fairly cheaply.

I don't think that Wilson do any work to the barrel such as backboring, they don't seem to mention it on their website, you get an 18.5" Cyl bore from an Express.
 
I believe the plastic trigger assembly is actually better/stronger than the sintered aluminum version, although the plastic unit is not as aestetically appealing. I wouldn't bother replacing one for another unless the one I had was broken however.

Anyway, I'll say again that when I first got it 10 years ago, my 870P required a chamber polishing and a lot of hand stoning on the action bars as the action was sandpaper-on-sandpaper rough.

Basically aside from the Parkerized finish, extractor heavier springs, and lack of mag tube dimples and J-lock, it was little different from an Express functionally.
 
Really, you're buying the Wilson Combat/Scattergun name here...there is value in it. Whether that value is as high as the cost is another question.

Re the Steal Deal- I read a few comments on the net where people weren't thrilled with what they got. They took good parts off the gun and returned them with a cheap stock and parts they didn't like.

But if you just send them a beater with most of the parts gone, you get back a good usable gun for a cheap price.

Yes, it's too bad we can't get access to that deal.

I was just looking at the Proffessional and noticed they non longer cut the barrel flush with the end of mag tube. Wonder why that is? Probably trying to replicate the stupid look made when Remington lengthened the 18" barrels to 18.5". Looks hideous, I'd expect it to be flush on a $1500 custom shotgun, especially since they're cutting the barrel already.

The Remington Steal package is a pretty good deal, but it's not like we can send our guns down there for work.

Start with an older wingmaster for maybe 300. Its already as slick as an 870 is getting because it was made as the top of the remington line back when they were serious about making the best SG possible send it off to Casey at tac ord or Simon at one shot. They can do everything that Bill Wilson can do without the upcharge for the name.

Question: for 99% of the people buying these slicked-up tactical shotguns, would it actually make a lick of difference to their shooting if they just bought themselves an old CIL pump 12 gauge and used that? Maybe had a gunsmith cut the barrel down to 18.5" and even thread it for chokes if they wanted to get fancy? Then spent the $2600 they saved on ammunition for practice instead?

I've already showed you the factory, Remington catalog with the prices listed for all Remington 870 parts, yet you choose again to refuse the facts and to follow your personal "feelings" that are obviously more important to you than reality. Whatever...
What? You want me again to post the link to that catalog? Cool down.
I'm simply pointing out that Wilson is using Express parts even though they can get the Police parts for the very same price.
Why?
Maybe because it is easier for them to remove the finish from Express than Police before applying their own?
Who knows? That question should be asked to both Wilson and Nighthawk representatives.
