I have a top eject 94 with a ramp rear sight. How do you adjust windage? All I can see is that you drift the rear sight to the left or right in the dovetail slot in the barrel.

thanks,
rob

Rob, thats how you do it. I use an empty brass caseing and a small mallet. If you need to move your point of aim to the left you drift to the left and vice versa.

......now if you run out out of windage adjustment at the rear sight for some reason, (i have seen this) You drift the front sight the opposite way.

.................go slow. A hair movement makes a big diff!!

Thanks - I need to adjust it about 6" to the left. I was shooting it this morning....about the first time in over 10 years that I've shot this rifle. I forgot how much fun it is to shoot. At 100 yards I was keeping all the shots with about 6" of point of aim, once I got it on the paper. May even have to hunt with this little rifle! This was my Dad's - from the late 1940s - nice light rifle.

The good ole 30-30

You are very lucky to have a 94 of that age, presumably in good shape. I recently lucked out and got a 94, 30-30, once used in war time by the PCMRs, to guard such things as bridges. It is in super beautiful condition, except whoever added a Lyman peep, scratched the side a bit. I am a firm, firm, believer in peep sights. I had another pre 64 Model 94, which I put a Williams Fool Proof peep on. (Later gave that rifle to a son.) I prefer this model Williams to the Lyman. If you can find the right one it will just screw onto the 94.
I spent many years, shooting thousands of rounds, target shooting and hunting with rifles of the 303, 30-06 and 270 class, but now I have "discovered," how much enjoyment can be had with good lever actions. Thus, I now have my fun mostly with the 94, 30-30 and the Marlin 44 mag.

These sights were designed to drift to the left only....the dovetail is slightly tapered. So go slow and careful. Apparently they used to drift the rear sight to move POI left, the front sight to move POI right, if possible.

Thanks....good to know. I need to move the POI left, so will drift the rear sight.
