Gentlemen, regarding the call-back of the Winchester model 100 firing pin, I recently replaced mine, and here are the steps involved in case anyone is curious about the procedure.
First, you call the "Winchester Model 100 recall hot line" and have your serial number checked to see if the pin has already been replaced. If yours has already been replaced, the serial number of your gun will be listed on their computer, if not, then you still have the old pin in your 100. The Winchester 100 recall hot line number is 1-800-852-5734.
Second, you remove the old firing pin from your model 100 and mail it to them in a box (don't mail the gun to them, just the firing pin only). Include the serial number of your gun, your return address, and phone number or e-mail address. Or you have your gunsmith do it for you. The address to send your firing pin to is;
Winchester
P.O. Box 10.,
Cottage Hills, IL 62018
U.S.A.
ATTN : 100 Pin Replacement.
Third, Winchester will send you the new pin with a new bushing and a check for $30 to help cover any gunsmith fees. It took about 4 weeks for my pin to arrive, and about another 4 weeks for the check. I think the check gets mailed out from a different branch of the company?
Anyhow that's it. The new pin is thicker in the center (I think it's for keeping the pin from flexing under stress). Here's some pictures.....
First the old pin.
Next are 3 pics of the new pin.
Hope this helps anyone curious about it.
