I happened on an American site last year and saw for the first time a restored Winchester Model 1892 Trapper Carbine in the rarest of the rare, 14inch barrel . Is there a more beautiful looking Winchester lever action ever produced then this. I think not. I owned the Wrangler in .32 special and always loved the 94 16" trapper but the 92 omg what a beauty.

Does anyone of the Winchester collectors on CGN have one of these rare beauties and would like to post pics.
My friend had, i guess you call it the Winchester Bible. A thick well written data book on all Winchesters and i believe in the 14" barrel very few were made. (16" being more popular). And the restored one was asking 6500US. If i had that kind of money to put into an individual firearm i would own one:wave:

I would have to agree with you there friend.
The older Winchester rifles/carbines/trappers/baby carbines are something to behold.
In my 1953-54 Gun Guide there is a long article on collecting Winchesters even then. I guess one way to diiscern if these uber short rifles are genuine is the front sight. The original short barrels had the front sight made in one complete unit with the short barrel. A copy/fake would not be one unified barrel/frontsight. Interesting tidbit......
I was recently viewing one US auction sight, and a 1925 made Model 1894 30-30 with a 15 inch barrel and a BATF letter was reserved at $4,500 US dollars.

Interesting tidbit on the front site authenticating the 14" trapper. If find that site again i'll check that out. I know one thing i read in the Winchester Bible was that most of the shorty trapper carbines left that are real are well used or restored. They said the people who usually bought them worked them hard.
