I recall (and I’m sure others do as well) seeing a post about this rifle on here quite a while ago. It was at Cabelas in Winnipeg in the Gun Library. It was being sold as having a benchrest stock and came with a Weaver K-8 scope. Well, I was in there over the weekend and decided to make an offer on the rifle that was a little (a lot) more realistic than they were asking. Needless to say we agreed on the price and it (the 52E) came home with me, along with the original factory stock that had gotten broken while at the store which is the reason for the different stock. It also came with the K-8 scope, and the original factory box. I tested a few different types of ammo in it today, and it definitely has a preference for 2 different lots of Tenex. I have a Weaver 5-20 scope on it now. I’m hoping to give it a much better test tomorrow and have it posted in the 1/2” challenge. Originally I thought I might have the original stock repaired, but now I’m thinking I just might have the current stock on it refinished so it is an even color.

What a nice looking rifle. Too bad about the original stock. Was the replacement a custom made stock?

It appears to be a modified 52 stock from a D or E. I’m not sure why they needed to put in the vents. The gentleman from Cabelas said a guy from Alberta did the work.

Beautiful rifle. I also have a couple of 52's. They are really fantastic shooters.
Congrats for your buy.

Very nice 52.

Enjoy. You will not be disappointed with the accuracy and certainly not the trigger pull. ;)

How on earth did those clowns at Cabelas crack the stock like that? Were they practicing football passes with it?

The gentleman simply told me it was dropped.

That is one beautiful rifle. If it was up to me, I'd just refinish the stock and enjoy it the way it is.
Congrats on the find.

Nice rifle, but what the duck happened to the first stock; a train wreck or airliner crash??? that type of break took malice of fore-thought.

It looked like it had slid and fell judging by the damage to the barrel at the muzzle and along the stock last I saw it. Likely bounced on the way down breaking the wrist. They never admitted who broke it and afaik nobody was ever disciplined despite there being cameras, very likely the manager or his favourite library employee. It sat there a very long time waiting for repair. It was overpriced when they first bought it, overpriced after the new stock and at a higher price when I walked through last. I'm very happy it finally went to a good home at a bearable price! Happy shooting!
