The model 94 is THE rifle of all-time. Nothing has killed more deer, (or indians for that matter ).
More deer have been killed with shotguns than 94's... and the native americans were almost killed off by white-man diseases before the 94 was invented... :!:
I'll go ahead and say it...I think anyone who doesn't have a Model 94 DOES have a big hole in their lives.
Step away from the "Bong" Shoey... your killing brain cells :p
The day winchester drops the model 94 is the day I start buying Remingtons
You should start with a 710...

Ah, Bigredd, the voice of reason.
I almost added the disease comment myself.
Tell me, Shoey, do you also regard the smallpox-infected blankets that were intentionally given to the the Sioux as a good method of killing Indians?? :?
Considering smallpox and influenza killed about 5 times more native Americans than the cavalry ever did they'd have to be up there.

the 94 is really an upsized '92, which wasd a shrunken '86. ever notice that some the best, most long lasting and popular firearms designs around, both military and civillian, are John Browning designs? the '94 is still in production after 111 years, as is the 1911, the Hi-Power, the M2 it goes on. the Auto 5 was discontinued after 100 years, and the '92 and the '86 also had a fairly long life as well. a true genius

when is this supposed to take place- i just got the new russels catalogue and there's 5 models of 94 in it and 2 of the 410 shotgun- or is it the rimfire that's going?

Gee, Shoey, they must only ever have hunted deer in America?
What do you think all those European hunters used.....rocks? :?
A good hunting arm that has proved itself over time, for sure.
Rifle of all time, I think not.
And I also think you'd better check your dates before you start making coments about Indian kills.
The last major battle of the Indian Wars was the Battle of Wounded Knee in 1890 and it ended any sort of resistance by the Indians.
That would mean that it would be 4 years before the '94 was even sold, let alone adopted as a service rifle, which I don't think it was because the Krag was adopted.
Talking of Indians, I actually found it interesting that at the Battle of Little Big Horn most if not all of the US Cavalry were equipped with single shot carbines and a considerable amount of the Indians were using the latest repeaters.
So at least to begin with, there were probably more cavalry troops killed by lever guns than Indians.

I just like the damn rifle :(

You are right, my deer/ indian stat is for the Winchester 30-30 in all it's models

I guess I am little passionate
