It’s a relatively rare rifle in shelves but there seem to be quite a few used ones for sale at deeply discounted prices. Are there issues with these rifles?

None with mine. I think it is the finest factory rifle I have ever owned. (I have owned hundreds of rifles over the years). The trigger is perfect. The gun shoots everything I put down the pipe well. I literally cannot imagine ever selling it.

Yes the EE is very slow for sellers right now. Great rifles though, mine was a great shooter with everything I tried. Trigger could use some work though, a little on the heavy side for my personal liking.

I have had a couple regular trading partners contact me via PM and ask "what the heck is going on in the EE... nothing is moving." The used market is definitely "soft." My opinion is that the influx of cheap "new" (but garbage) rifles are distracting uniformed buyers from the "quality" used gun market... this is unfortunate, because I would hate for manufacturers to think that their "race to the bottom" strategy is working.

I'm surprised every time you bump that BSS and it is still for sale. Their are some nice items in the EE and if it stays slow for much longer I'm sure there will be deals to be had!

I personally think that they are one of the best rifles made, since (2006) FN Herstal took over the Winchester Company. The only thing I did was replace their standard trigger with a Timney. Three pounds was the lowest the standard trigger would go, the Timney is set at 1.5 pounds, just the way I like it. It's a great rifle to build a custom with, as well.

I loved my Model 70 EW and Coyote Special. It shot lights out and was built well, you could just tell. The reason I think lots of things arent moving these days is 2 reasons.

1) Guys want new prices for used rifles. Could be mint or even "brand new in box" but to most, its a used rifle and ill offer you 80ish% of new price or less depending on condition. To save $50 or $100 isnt worth the hassel if I can go to the shop and buy the same one for a few bucks more and know 100% without a doubt it is brand new. It's no different then vehicles. Buy it, drive it off the lot go to trade it in week later and they give you 15,000 less.

2)The economy is slow right now, lots of people don't have the extra cash kickin around right now to buy toys like they used to. Until things start to pick up again and people have some security in their lives, nothing will change. Just my 0.2..

I sold my HS Precision 300 WSM and replaced it with an EW Model 70 in the same caliber. Only regret is I didn't use all the money from the HS in order to buy 2 of the Model 70's.
The extreme weather is the best of the current Model 70 line IMHO.

I like the way you think. After all what’s better then one model 70 but 2. 3 is even better still
