Winchester Model 100 Firing Pin Recall.

When I did win warranty work back in the day I did 100’ s as well .
Never came across a 100 that had it happen the only reason it is a issue at all because on the USA side it is a liability thing .
Here is a heads up for all you people with safety concerns
Win model 12
Win model 97
Win model 94
And many other will do the same thing the firing pin is taped so that it will not come out the front of the bolt what happens if it is broken is that it jams in the hole you close the bolt and it will fire with out pulling the trigger. It may even fire before the bolt is closed when the cartridge slides up against the bolt face .
I have seen happen on a model 12 and a 94 that being said fired on the closing of the bolt not on the feeding of the cartridge this was actually a design of the gun so that your gun would work with a broken firming pin

Thank you. With all the hassle involved, I am seriously considering just leaving it the way it is. My dad hunted with it for years without issue. So, I think I will take my chances.

I have already spoken with a Wichester representative There is no issue with them sending it to me, free of charge. In fact, they are sending $30 along with the part. The issue is that the part will take forever to clear customs given the current political climate.

Will Winchester also provide new magazines and new stocks as well?

I have to ask. Why do you think they should be providing new stocks and magazines?

I didn't say they should... I asked if they would.

Winchester only supplies parts for 10 years after discontinuing a model. Replacement stocks were the first things to run out...

I'm pretty sure this thread is about the firing pin recall, not stocks and such...............

I did this a few years ago on a 100 I inherited.
Called Winchester in the states with the serial number and they shipped it for free with a $30 card for the inconvenience.
No need to ship them the old one.
Took it to my local smithy and done!
Even if it takes awhile, I wouldn't consider the gun safe until it's replaced.

The policy has changed now. They require the old one before they ship the new one. Due diligence on their part to take the old firing pin out of circulation.
Also, I don't need a smith to replace it. It is an easy enough procedure, that I can do it on my own. I have already had the rifle fully apart a couple of times.

How are you supposed to know if the firing pin fix has been done?

Someone in this thread said something about an asterisk at the front or back of the serial number engraving? No such mark on my old Winchester 100. Not that I'm particularly worried but if it was free I suppose it'd be worth the effort for the sake of it.
