Winchester Model 12 Values

you have to understand hes a 90 year old man, and someone probably told him their worth $2000 dollars. if he doesn't budge on his price i just tell him to sell them to someone else/.

He's 90 he should be just giving them to you at this point,
whats a couple of grand going to do for him. Hes probably going to pass away soon anyways and if he has no family that wants the guns then he should go easy on his prices to you.
Me I would be like, yes they are worth lots of money but scene your such a great friend, I know you would be happy to sell them to me for $500.

Wow...f:P:2:

I did gun shoes for 20 yrs every weekend Manitoba sask and Alberta seen many a 3” duck gun sit at show after show after show at 400$ . And plain field guns 200-300$ lots of 3” guns on EE sit at 500-600$
As this thread is being written Elwood Epps 3” duck gun 499.00 translates 450 purchase price and a nice plain bbl restocked with nice maple 349.00 both still for sale . Best list examples or the EE police will be out in full force . The best store in the country as far as correct pricing

I just looked at the one listed by Elwood Epps. I would say its a good indicator of market value. some guys on EE are out to lunch. my buddies has much nicer bluing but im almost positive he defaced it with electro pencil. so i would estimate the "3 is probabaly $450 bucks. and the modified is probably 350. thanks for the info.

i dont think ill tell him what im seeing on the market. ill let the gun shop break him the bad news. at this point im thinking anything over $1000 might be overly generous. hmmm.....

Also one on Lansborough Auction right now at $850.00, 2 3/4" chamber, 28" plain barrel, modified choke. Still 14 hours to go. I know auctions can be crazy but it shows there is more than one person willing to pay more than $300.00 for a model 12. Like anything, ya just gotta find the buyer.

Sorry but this attitude is repugnant.

Spelling is bad too. Lol

1. Rarity/Model - Winchester Factory Correct

2. Condition - NRA Standards

3. Originality - Factory original with no add-ons or modifications

Any modifications puts the firearm in the "Fair" category for pricing.

20 years ago, m12 's where a hot ticket. These days a plane barrel 2 3/4 is a hard sell at 300.oo unless the wood is super nice, or deluxe model.
The 3 in would be a different story 500.oo -600.oo maybe more? $1500 for the pair if they where black diamonds, other wise not a chance in hell.
But that is between you and the seller. BTW the fixed choke on the 3 mag should be opened up, if you are going to used it.
I know you want to be fair, but Current value has nothing to do with market years ago. Or what some guy told him something is worth.

The plain field grade full choke M12 has lost favor over the years due to non-toxic shot. Model 12 barrels are well made from Winchester proof Steel and thick enough at the muzzle for tubes.. Also, Winchester would over proof their firearms to 150% of required proof. When folks finally realize what a well made shotgun the M12 is and the ability to shoot steel all you want by a combination of opening the full choke to improved cyl. and the plastic shot cups I believe you'll see the M12 fall back into favor with prices on ones in good condition going up.

my plan for them is that if they are electro penciled and collectibility is ruined i would get them threaded for chokes. wife wants to go get some turkeys. they might be a great turkey gun

I've paid significantly more than a gun's worth for some sentimental ones that were valued the same as these model 12's.. in fact some were family heirloom Model 12's. Some had the previous owners SIN engraved on them as well, I know the feeling.

If the gentleman isn't exactly well off, I'd be comfortable offering $1000 due to the sentimental nature. Electro pencil more or less destroys any collector value.

Any higher than that.. as mentioned, is a gift.

If interested hasn't developed in the 60 years since they quit making them, it is pretty doubtful to start now

Sorry boys I guess not all enjoy my sense of humor. For the ones that comment on an others spelling I guess you wont be getting any of my fire arms when,
I turn 90. I was trying to be funny, but I guess I offended a few, sorry I will ad a lol next time.

As auction pricing; worn little blue, 250 Duck 3inch slightly used 450.
Refinished or nice may go to 400 on a good day
SPECIAL= model 12 trap or skeet in pristine have sold for over 1000 bucks
Field grade is all condition, 250 to 400
Also wild bunch shooter avoid 3 inch duck guns.
Fire pin broken check- #### gun bolt open, muzzle to the ground, finger the bolt face. If the firing pin sticks out it is broken, YES the gun will still fire just fine, for now. The pin is in a channel and is retracted with a spring.

Agree the wood on a plain barrel at least adds some value but I guess why??have several M12 and they represent the best in great craftmanship ,more than new stocks

Clean field guns have been selling on the EE in the six to seven hundred range all year long on this board .Good ones get sold overnight the clunkers not so much most are overpriced at four hundred . Would you pay five to six hundred for a used Rem 870 ? lots of people do.
