Looking for manual to do proper takedown and clean it appears it has not been done in long time.
We, at least me, are poking fun at you!
Anyone who has passed the test to receive a firearm licence, should be able to figure out how to safely shoot a 22 rim fire rifle, as simple as a Model 69 Winchester!
I bought my 69A from the used market, in 1960. In the 60 years I have had it I have never cleaned it, beyond a simple wipe down with an oily rag. I have competed with it in a lot of organized, competitive shooting, plus the usual fun shooting with a 22 rim fire. Thus, many thousands of bullets have gone down the barrel, which I have never cleaned.
A few years ago several of us decided to see what 22 sporting ammunition was most accurate in our rifles. My 69A, with good quality aperture sporting sights was used. Other rifles used included three top quality Brno sporting rifles with sporting grade 4x scopes.
While the results of the test showed a wide variation in the sporting ammunition, there was little, or no, differences detected in the rifles used.
I am going to edit this to give from memory, the results of a test Winchester did about 70 years ago.
The top of the line, best quality of 22 rim fire rifles ever made by Winchester was their Model 52, with a great many variations, ranging from the super scarce Model 52 Sporter, to any number of match type Model 52 rifles.
They rigged up a 52 match grade rifle for mechanical shooting and using Winchester 22 caliber Long Rifle ammunition, fired 100,000 rounds through it, without touching it, or changing anything.
They then took the rifle into their factory and their engineers completely dismantled the rifle and with their precision instruments measured every piece removed.
As I remember it, they couldn't find any piece that had measurable wear on it.
Remember, it is all in fun here, we are only talking about our favourate pastime.
So feel free to poke all the fun you can at me.
