Winchester SX3 ammo

First off, take it apart and clean it. If you are unsure about the process, find someone in the know. Check for burrs/irregularities on any moving parts.

Source some "handicap" or "supersport" target shells.

Buy a flat and run them through at the local range.

Stay away from 2 3/4 dram shells. Shoot 3 dram (heavy trap) as a minimum.

You might want to stay away from the winchester promotional (cheap) loads too. They use a very soft plastic and every once in a while you might notice "bell mouthed" cases from the crimping process. I have had issues with these feeding in my Extrema2.
Stay away from the Federal shells too - they are dirty and will require you clean your shotgun more often.
Stick to Remington's Gun Club or Kent's Gamebore for lower priced shells.

i don't buy the cheapy "walmart" ammo. the heavy loads in 2 3/4" #4,#6 in 3 1/4 dram don't even cycle properly. any ammo in 3" and up will cycle with no problems and yes i did clean her in and out, ran it dry and lubed, still the same problem.

i use 2 3/4 Winchester #8, 2 3/4DRAM, and i noticed on the shells its marked light load.

Could somebody please explain the differences between the DRAM ratings and what are the min and max available on the market ?

Unless these were AA the 2 3/4 dram Winchester shells you mentioned were likely the promotional shells (Winchester super target) that I was speaking of. I have fired thousands of these shells, and I have had some issues with certain flats - as I mentioned - particularly with crimps in auto loaders and the case head with extraction on over-unders.

I would have thought with a cleaning and 3 1/4 dram loads you would have been in business. I think a inquiry to Winchester would likely be your best option. Good luck with your shotgun.
