Winchester xpr any good

I have the sporter model (wood stock) in 6.5 Creedmoor and it's very accurate

The only downside I see is that you have to remove the mag in order to top it up unlike the model 70 where you can just pop a few in from the top.

But I think they are a good value for your money.

I purchased one in .270 Winchester last year. In my opinion, I think it’s a good rifle for the money. The trigger is very nice. It’s been 100% reliable so far. Also gave me 1 MOA with 140gr Hornady Whitetail. I didn’t need tis rifle but I was impressed with the wood on it so of course, it came home with me lol!

I got the xpr sporter as well , 6.5 PRC.
Bolt slides like butter and shoots sub moa.
Trigger was heavy but it’s adjustable down to about 3 lbs.

I might be getting one these in 223, any good? What is it comparable to
.223 mags are caliber specific for the XPR.

Impossible to find, call around, search the internet.

I'm lucky my gun had 2 when I bought it.

Browning AB3 is made in the same factory, XPR has a slightly better trigger, Browning mag design is better.

I owned an XPR Stealth in .308, green plastic stock with 16.5" barrel. It shot quite well, but I sold it off to a new hunter looking for a decent, compact black bear rifle. Sold it off with a Primary Arms LPVO on it. My only gripes were the stock isn't the most rigid thing out there, and I'm not a huge fan of plastic trigger guards.

I have a sporter in 308, love the wood. Took a bull moose with it this year. She dropped on the spot. Very nice rifles for the price, only thing I would have liked was controlled feed, but on a budget hunting rifle you can't expect everything.

I just bought a XPR with the wood as well. I’ve never owned a “modern” wood stock. I’m used to the 1970s varnish finish. Do you oil your stock at all?

most modern stocks have a poly finish to them.

The xpr is a fine rifle. I would say a cut above the Ruger American and right near the savage 110. Accurate and sturdy.

XPRs can be hit or miss. I have seen one in 6.5CM that would not shoot better than 5" groups, others seem to be reasonably accurate for a hunting rifle, YMMV. I have an XPR in 6.8W that I bedded and played around quite a bit to find a decent load. It is an ok hunting rifle.

When they first came out I did a fair bit of comparison with the AB3. I ended up with the AB3 and my brother went with the XPR. Nothing much different between the two, the AB3 held an extra shell in the mag and had a tang safety so that pushed me towards it. But I believe there was a black Friday $100 rebate on them and the synthetic was only $550 to start back then so had to pick one up. But I see some places want $8-900 for them now and personally I'd add a few bucks and get a tikka, unless your after a wood stock or can get a great deal on one.

I looked at the XPR’s today and oddly enough they had each model already posted here and one of their Camo variants as well. JPO but, I think the Sporter version (wood stock) is the gem of the lineup tbh.
