Hello everyone,I will like to know wich one would you pick between:

-Tikka T-3 Lite camo stainless,300 wsm,870$
or
-Winchester Super Grade,300 wsm,870$+taxes

Please tell me your pick and why?

Thanks

The winchester it is brand new in the box,a dealer super sale.
The Tikka is own by a particular, never fire,he used it for training course.

Thanks

Shadow I would personally go with the tikka just because the bolt is alot smoother than the winnie but thats just my opinion

Never owned either of them ...

I am a fan of the Winchester brand name ... and a big fan of older Winchesters ...

But I have been hearing a lot of good things about Tikka rifles. I would probably be leaning towards a Tikka, though I'd still want to test fit each of them at a store to see which fit me better.

I would take the supergrade, I like Tikkas as well but I find that a little heavier rifle is easier for me to hold steady particularly for off hand and hunting position shooting. I don't think you will be disappointed in either one.

x2! on the Supergrade, but in a 300WinMag.

I think the Tikkas are too light for a magnum chambering. Recoil may be an issue.

.

I'd take the Tikka only because I'd be sad if my super grade got some character on her from my bushwacking.

Seriously, I own a Tikka t3 .300winmag. I've yet to hear or feel that gun go off when I'm shooting at bullwinkle or bucky boy.

Hmmmm

Other than having the bolt handles on the same sides these are two distinctly different guns. So I would like to suggest you go and handle both before making any choice. If you have and find them equally comfortable. Then you will have to decide which differences you prefer.

The Winchester

8 lbs
90degree bolt lift
Wood stock
Drop hinge floor plate
3 position swing safety
Control round feed
Excellent recoil pad
All metal parts

Tikka

6 3/8 lbs
70 degree bolt lift
Synthetic stock
3 shot detachable mag (clip) plastic
2 position slide safety
Push feed
Recoil pad will need to be replaced (you can get an off the shelf limbsaver that will screw on) about $50-$60.
Some plastic (polymer) parts. Bolt shroud, trigger guard and mag.

Well said short action, I would choose the Winchester even if it cost much more money, I like them better than any Tikka except the older model 65's.

The Model 70 because it's very good looking rifle well made from actual good old fashioned blued metal parts and walnut. An American classic at a very good price for a supergrade.

This is the best advice given thus far...:D

I remember one sheep hunting trip with a buddy of mine, we were way back in the middle of nowhere and came across a couple of other hunters. I was a little upset that we were not alone and then my buddy says "Don't worry, that guy was carrying a Tikka, they obviously don't know what they are doing" :).

Obviously it was a joke but it put a smile on my face :D

Personally, I would never carry an 8lb rifle. The Supergrade is a beautiful rifle and one I might own someday, but it certainly won't be my go to rifle!

I have shot several Tikka's and they are accurate and the bolts are silky smooth. As well I really prefer the detachable mag, but the recoil in the 300WSM is pretty brisk, it won't be a rifle you will take to the range and shoot 30-40 rounds out of with much enjoyment. If you handload you can load it down considerably for range time.

If you really prefer what the Winchester has to offer, I would recommend a Featherweight which comes in at 7 lbs.

I'd take the Super-grade( in .300 Win), simply because I like it more. I've have 3 tikkas now, a .300 Win, .300 WSM and a 7/08 that my daughter shoots.

I just can't warm up to the Tikkas. The .300 win was a shooter, it went to Africa a couple times and has killed its share of game. A friend was on a bad luck streak on rifles and felt he had to have that one since it was such a proven commody. I let him have it with Leupold scope, all the 180 partitions I had and my best wishes. He loves it, and I don't miss it.

The .300 WSM in blue tupperware trim worked and shot as well. Another friend got it for his son and is busy pileing up whatever he points it at. I don't miss it either. I am forced to comment on how light recoiling the .300 WSM really was, at least with the 180 factory loads I tried in it. I wouldn't have believed it.

My daughters Tikka is still around, because it is one of the most cost effective ways of getting a very light rifle. 90 pound girls need all the help they can get, even if it means that the rifle feels like a paintball gun.
