Tapco AR mags are not too difficult to take apart without drilling. As you know, there is a button that sits in a hole on the inside of the floor plate. This is held in position by the spring. If you hold the magazine upside down in your dominant hand and give it a good smack with the feed lips into the palm of your other hand, you will hear the button and spring snap down and then back up into place. What you are wanting to do, is start the base plate off when the button is out of the floor plate. This is simply a matter of a sharp enough smack into your palm, and timing starting the base plate off. It may take you 20 or 30 tries to get it the first time. Once you get it a few times it gets easier. I do it all the time now without thinking about it.
