Witness-Protection Shotgun w/ 14" barrel

I used the WITNESS PROTECTION GRIP as seen in the pictures , I bought it in the States years ago. As to the comment about it being uncomfortable to shoot, I have never fired anything with it on but according to an article in a gun magazine when they were developing the concept of the WITNESS PROTECTION GUN they experimented with the different grips available and a cut down wooden stock was what was the most comfortable to shoot. Then they made a plastic one so they would all be the same. The stock is supposed to roll a little in your hand similar to a big caliber single action revolver.

I just screwed on my grip and measured my 18 in. barrel to 14 in. then back to the end of the grip and it is 25 3/4 in. , no go. At 14 1/2 in. it would be 1/4 in. over about the perfect length, no diddling with the tape measure and your too short. So what we need is not a 14 in. barrel but a 14 1/2 in. or 15 in. barrel and maybe even the CHOATE GRIPS will work for length.
Easier than procuring a barrel that is a half-inch longer, might be to create a similar pistol grip that is a half-inch longer.

A handy person could probably cut one out of a chunk of hardwood; A bit of black paint and Bob's yer uncle.

The Sage collapsible stock that Tetragon sells will give you a pistolgrip shotgun with the stock collapsed that'll keep a 14in model non-restricted. IIRC they go for around $230. They don't list it on their site but they rep the Sage line.

One of my old SG's wearing one, partially collapsed.

and with the stock fully collapsed and butt tucked away.

a very rough photoshop job i did, shows the first grip wouldn't add enough. you can see the triggers don't line up, so the grip would even be a bit smaller. it is aligned by the line where the grip meets the metal.

you could weld on a nice "flash hider" onto the end of the barrel, that should bring it up to length:

i thought compensators and the like arent counted towards overall length/barrel length.

I know these 10in setups are hard to find but may be something Dlask may be interested in building... someone here was talking about Dlask considering building breaching guns. Anyway top is a regular 14in with the stock shortened an inch. Bottom is a 10in with a Brobee adapter. The 10in with the Brobee is just long enough to make non-restricted.

Dat was me. 6.5" barrel, 3.5" chamber, pistol grip only, restricted 870. It'll have a pistol grip, and remove it and it'll have a mount for the bottom of your AR15. Should be sweet as soon as Dlask gets some barrels made.

I love the look of your 10" in the bottom of the pic!

Looks like mine, cept a little shorter barrel/mag and diff front grip:

They are making me two barrels: First one will be a 12.5" with 3.5" chamber with no sights for my current Rem 870 Super Mag (evil flash hider on the end, +1 extention, will be same as 14" barrel at the end), and eventually a 6.5" 3.5" chambered barrel for my newly imported restricted Rem 870 Super Mag receiver. The 6.5" will have a custom barrel retaining ring and setup, custom 870 action bars, custom 870 mag tube, HK MP5K PDW front pistol grip (or fold down pistol grip, havn't decided yet). I have a machine shop that's making up a sweeeet mount for my 11.5" AR15, and I've got them to make up a very nice smooth AR15 rear pistol grip adapter. As soon as the barrels get here, lots of projects to try out.

Dlask will make anything you want. Because they are already making the new 870 barrels, it will be nothing for them to cut a blank down to 6.5", stamp/mark it 6.5", and off it goes for finishing.

I'm not really sure what the delay is, but I heard recently things are looking better.

That 10" non-restricted looks great! How many rounds does the mag hold, 3?

It looks like the front of the action bar tube was just cut shorter, rather than a custom one built. Is the mag tube threaded after cutting, or is there some other method holding the end on? I'm just wondering how much extra work would be needed on the unit other than the purchase of the new barrel.

I've a receiver that is already registered as shorter than 470mm. I'm trying to decide what size barrel to get for it, or if I should just sell it to help pay for other projects I'm working on...

Is the mag tube re-threaded after being shortened, or is there some other method holding the cap on?
