WK 180 how does it really shoot compared to an AR15?

Whats the twist rate of the FN barrel and are you using the appropriate weight ammo? Those FN barrels are cold hammer forged arent they? Id be surprised if it wasnt more accurate than the WK's

The twist rate is 1:7 RH 20 inch barrel. I was using the freedom bucket 55grain ammo and the stuff that Cannam sells
Maybe I need to try a heavier bullet

Take the rifle the bullets are coming out of into context.
This isn't a precision bolt gun shooting match hand loaded ammo.
Showing a fast 10 round group with irons off a bag prone unsupported at 100 meters is a great reflection of what to expect accuracy wise. Because its exactly how 95% of the people who buy this gun are going to shoot it.
I have seen people shooting supermatch ammo through this gun and posting pics of 1" 5 round groups after waiting 2 minutes between shots etc
To me those accurracy results are completely irelevant as almost Noone is ever going to shoot this cheap ass, bare bones blaster in this fashion.

It's the cheapest materials on the market and as soon as it gets hot, it opens up fast. I can attest to that personally.

Would be like buying a pgw coyote and then running crates of corrosive steel cased ammo through it as fast as you can shooting from the hip and posting groups. You want to see what a rifle does when it's applied in the actual method it was designed and intended to be used.

People want to know the accuracy potential of the rifle, not how good the guy shooting it is with irons. The only way to determine the accuracy potential of a rifle/barrel/platform is to remove as many factors as possible. I.e. a vise, good scope, competent shooter, etc.

If you know you're starting with a rifle that generally can't do better than 2 MOA with the load you're running, you won't beat yourself up about a 3 minute group. If it's a known sub minute gun, you might.

So you shot bulk ammo for plinking from it and got shocked it wasn't shooting wicked tight groups?

Shot the same exact ammo in the wk180 and had way better groupings with a supposed "cheap" quality barrel as compared to the one on the fn
I got nothing against the fn as I love it to bits but was surprised at the accuracy comparison
Like was posted earlier maybe I got a crap barrel

Maybe. Or you got the magic combo for the wk. I'm saying you should try a wider variety. What's the twist rate on the wk barrel? The fn i gurantee will like the heavier rounds.

I bought my WK for banging steel targets at 100-400 yards and for calling coyotes. I installed a Geissele G2S trigger on my first WK. my second WK I had Wolverine install a Geissele SSAE trigger. Both have Vortex viper 2.5-10 hs scopes mounted in Leupold cantilever mounts.
shooting 100 yard 5 shot groups off my front rest and Edgewood rear bag my best groups have been 1.25” with Hornady 55 gr steel match and Federal Premium 55 gr ballistic tips. With AE 55gr Fmj the groups are at best 2.5”. I only use metal LAR 15 pistol mags and they function great. Both rifles have over 1000 rounds through them. The first one was sent back to Kodiak to be rechambered as it was piercing the primers with Hornady varmint express ammo. I’ve only shot 3 coyotes with them so far but they are probably the funnest rifles I own.

Wow I'm glad I looked up this thread. First black rifle (have a few custom bolts) and it just arrived 2 days before xmas.Wealth of info guys and looking forward to shooting it this week so putting a Warne ramp 30 mm 1piece and have a Leupold vxr 1.25x4x20 off my Ruger African think this will work?

Agreed

Shooting with a 4X32 ACOG...it's become clear that I am the limiting factor in how accurate the gun is. It's pretty hard to shoot tight groups at -10C or worse. Once it warms up I'll try some bench rest shooting and see what it can do. But Sub 2 MOA is plenty for coyotes.
