WK180-C Sold 1,000 in 75 hours

Hi John, outstanding work! I will definitely be picking one up at some point. Will you be bringing an example to the Calgary Gun show for people to see?

Cheers,
Mike

Well done, Sir. Well done indeed.

Thank you for putting an end to the so-called NR Tax.
A solid, well built affordable NR fun-gun has been long overdue.

I see several have already asked a question I have. Will there be a 5.45x39 Russian version?

I wish you all the best of success.

5.45x39? really? Evil red cartridge.I see your typing hasn't improved. tootall meant 300 blackout. Jeesh

Firstly 5.45 x 39 is possibility I would think this is a job for a custom shop. The one business that comes to mind that could possible look after this work has chosen to take jabs at us with a stick, so I am hesitant to make recommendations at this time and I have no idea of the quality of their work. It is a shame that the Canadian firearms industry has to operate in this unprofessional manner.

As for the NR Tax, our price is plus tax! :) :) I jest. The vast majority of the time accusations of a NR Tax are completely unjust. We have been accused of them in the past, but our retail price is determined firstly by our cost.

Right now Maccabee Defence is been accused of charging this tax which in my opinion is completely unfounded. Maccabee did not have the luxury of copying a simple design like us, their R&D costs would have been higher, they ran bigger risks and their specialist market is much smaller than ours. People should remember that before attacking them, I wish them every success, they deserve it, I am confident that their SLR will provide great value for money.

This is not aimed at you "tootall", but why are Canadian gun owners so negative towards one another and so quick to attack, no wonder we can never have a united front when required. Anyway that is my sermon for this Sunday.

Thank you for the detailed reply.

Regarding a 5.45 version, I appreciate that you would want to focus on 5.56 (223 Wylde?) first, then move to a 7.62x39 or 300 BLK next.
I would the same.
I am thinking later for the 5.45, once cheap plentiful ammo has been sourced and approved.
Once the initial rush has subsided, this would be a natural project to do in house.

I'm surprising comfortable with evil red, as long as the price is right!
Just like 7.62x39, and 54R...

But yeah, 300 BLK first.

300 black out would be the easiest with just a barrel change... and maybe a piston adjustment.

Everything else needs the bolt and potentially the carrier modified.

5.45x39 might be next easiest given the cartridge bolt size vs a 223/556/300 bolt.

Selling these rifles will be the easy part...producing enough to meet demand will be the challenge!

They definitely will sell less of them now lol
I'm debating selling my prized M16A1 clone to pick up round two if the 180c. What's the point now?
Will be waiting to see how round 1 turns out. I have a lot more faith in Wolverine than NEA here (metric tonnes more..) but new Canadian made products make me nervous (cough..NEA102..cough...)
If round one is reliable and solid then I'm in on round two. Then there is also the Mac SLR sets coming out as well. Then there will be very little point in retaining a restricted AR15 to me anyhow.

This. Plus anyone trying to sell one of their original ar180b's is going to be in for a rude awakening. Who's gonna pay double the price for a gun with an inferior lower receiver prone to breaking???

Someone who wants an original for historical/collectible reasons will no doubt still be willing to pay more. But even then I doubt they will pay double.

Yeah, seeing original AR180-B's on the EE for 2K plus and shaking my head. Not going to happen, guys!

When Kodiak Defense offer a AR design in 7.63x39 for corrosive ammo I'll be picking up one for sure in a non-restricted design. As long as they are in a AR magazine platform using XCR 10 round mags who will complain for a rifle at $995.00 as long as it kicks the M+M industries AK47 type magazine design for $1995.00. Price point is important rather buy KD then another SKS rifle.
