I had my WK out to the range for the first time today and I was getting constant failures to extract. The empty casing would stay in the chamber and I would get a double feed on the next round.

Anyone else having this problem?

My Extractor spring was very distorted, causing the same issue. Their O-ring trick did not help. So I took an AR15 spring, cut off 1.5 coils and she runs like a champ now.
I also added an o-ring to the slot lug which tightened up the upper/lower wiggle.

Kodiak advised me to install the O-ring. Based on others' experiences I decided to splurge and spend $1.99 on a new upgraded extractor spring. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

Got my WK180 out about 1 week ago to shot a bit (about 150 rds) doing some grouping first and then plinking. Various ammo but most all 5.56 Nato 55 gr from Winchester, Fed Independence, PPU and American Eagle 62 gr not a single issue. My rifles SN is around 500.

Took my WK out for the first time, my supplies hera mags would not cycle. Bolt held open after every shot and same with my P mags. My MFT pistol mags worked real good and same with all my steel mags. Very interested to know why the supplied mags won’t work?

I’m pretty new to firearms so this might be a dumb question, but I’m a lefty and I was wondering if there is anyway of installing an Ambi mag release on the wk180c?

I had the same problem initially. Warranty machining fixed the plastic mag feed problems (nothing fixed the jam o matic with all steel mags but anyhow...)
Check inside your receiver. Take a look at the feed ramps. Post a good clear picture of the inside of the receiver/feed ramps.
Many of the rifles had a gap machined under the barrel extension for some reason.
When you get the stoppage, is the projectile jammed into the very bottom edge of the feed ramp and the bolt trying to push it but seized to the rear?

Bleaches, did you get the new extractor from Kodiak?

I actually broke a lug off the bolt somehow. It just went flying lol... But Owen at Kodiak was amazing and dropped shipped a replacement bolt to me right away. I swapped it out. And with the new bolt it had a lot of failure to extract issues on the first trip to the range. I then thought it might have just been the extractor issue and swapped my old extractor to the new bolt they sent me. And voila, problem solved.

Having trouble getting the piston to fall out. Yes I have the Allen screw out and yes I’ve tried racking the bolt a number of times. Also, the hand guard screws are unbelievably tight. I got 6 of 8 out with a lot of force and ruined the other two. Anyone have the same issue? Will simple heating with a heat gun make it easier?

You can push the piston out from the chamber side with a cleaning rod

First time so 115 rds. fired ..chinese 55 grain.Gun feels good..Problems were all mag related

4 IMI pistol mags..would not load from mag
6 Hera 5/30 mostly single shot
4 PMag 5/30..these ran 100%
5 RRA pistol mags..these ran 100%
3 jobber 5/30 mags from Martin at Corwin..these ran 100%

I'll separate out the mags that don't run and try them again as the gun gets broken in
Don't see any charging handle chatter yet..But I did grease the rails
Gas block seems tight..

I apologize if this has been asked already:
If I wanted to make the rifle restricted I could install any size AR15 barrel with a carbine gas length ?

I am not sure I understand your question, why would you want to make her restricted? Everything you can do with a restricted rifle can be done witha non restricted rifle!

If you were to re barrel her with a barrel shorter than 18.5 inches she would have to be registered as restricted. We have an FRT for both 12 and 16 inches but an FRT could be created for any other barrel length.

Do not shorten the existing 18.7 inch barrel to less than 18 inches as that would create a prohibited firearm.

Why would you do that? Buy a cheap S&W or Ruger AR15 for a restricted and keep the non restricted guns non restricted.

Edit: You beat me to it John.

^^^ what this guy says BIG TIME!!

The moment you change classification and register your firearm you can no longer "sell" it to that Mike guy....

KEEP THE NR GUNS NR. FULL STOP. PERIOD.

If you want your gun on a list just go buy one that's already on a list. No need to unnecessarily add another to the list.

Yes, everyone calm your horses, it was just a big hypothetical. For arguements sake then: Can I put a different AR15 barrel onto the gun as long as it is carbine gas length ?

Yes you can. There is a vendor on this site who has 18.6" Maple Ridge Armoury barrels made specifically for the WK180-C.
