I'd advise a careful check of the regulations as it is certainly illegal in BC to use FMJ on Game.

FMJ's are a poor choice IMO...

Years ago a friend had a Mini 14, if you could hit them, it would terminate a coyote impressively with some sort of FMJ that used to be bought in the US in plain 50 round boxes. So possibly not all FMJ have strong jackets.
What I am saying is that the effect of that cheap FMJ was the same as with 55 grain softpoints.
I am not a fan of FMJs for anything larger than a squirrel.
Myself, I once used FMJs in the 222 on Saskatchewan jackrabbits.
just once & never ever again.......
It's interesting that sunray pursues this very poor mode of harvest.
Maybe someone in a jurisdiction where FMJ are legal should test them in some sort of medium. I'd bet they are not all created equal.

I think their performance is pretty well documented. What your friend experienced is definitely outside the norm.
Not ethat he didn't say he had actually ever done it.... based on many of his posts I seriously doubt if he actually hunts or shoots at all....
Many FMJ are designed to tumble upon impact....that what causes the damage...not expansion.
Really? You mean FMJ's don't expand?![]()
