39 Euro a hundred for 139gr 9mm. A little on the extra pricey side IMHO.
We really need that shipping address!

Great to see that it was such a wonderful decision to have the match in Greece. I mean having it in the USA where ammo is plentiful and cheap would just not make sense.

Not to mention you do not get arrested for having spent brass.

Ammo brand is Geco

I've shot it before and it seems like quality ammo, but those prices are a bit much.

Ammunition costs range from € 16,00 to € 20,00 per box of 50 according to the website.

With a 500 round count that is € 160 to € 200 for the match numbers. Add in 10% extra and your at € 176 to € 220 (roughly $240-$300 CDN) for the match.

Mind you $300 when tallied against airfare/lodging/food/etc... is probably a small percentage of the total I would bet (maybe a tenth?).

True.
When you are shelling out 1K for flight, 1K for hotels, 1k for food and other transportation, and depending on how hard you party maybe another grand... a couple hundred for match ammo isn't a huge expense.

But trying to solve a country's sovereign debt crisis by gouging competitors won't sit right with many people.

I'll be bringing as much as I can in my luggage and will have to supplement with match ammo where necessary.

wonder how much extra the .40 long will be? 16th one and IPSC still hasn't figured out how to have this match. Ammo imports and availability should have to be worked out in order for a location to be considered. Not- here's the WS, figure out if you will be able to have guns and ammo brought into your country. what? thats not going to work, thats ok, we'll just have our buddy sell "quality" ammo to the competitors so we can make a few more bucks off everyone.
I'm sure the location selection process is 100% legit

"For Regions wishing to ship ammunition for their athletes in large consignments, we will soon provide information about the procedure."

seems that "soon" has a different meaning over there

The logistics of getting shipped ammo to that Island is even worse - but we haven't given up.

I will have a WS email update out this weekend to the people going.

As for location selection;
FWIW, the other choice when the Greeks won the vote was the United States Shooting Academy, and it's in the same precarious state as Greece.

Yes match ammo always does seem to be expensive, which is ass backwards. Companies should be lining up with reduced prices for ammo in an attempt to gain customers, customers who shoot a ton.

Geco Ammunition for World Shoot XVI

Hi all,
Geco will be providing the Official Match Ammunition to be used in the World Shoot and you know doubt will be wondering about the performance of this ammunition. I have tested several calibres and types of this IPSC Approved ammunition. The velocity was checked with a CED M2 Chronograph and the accuracy was tested with a Ransom Rest and by bench resting. If you are planning to use this ammunition, this article will show you the accuracy potential and IPSC power factor of the Official Match Ammunition being supplied for the World Shoot. Maybe next time. I believe the US lost out to Greece by only one vote.

Nice review, David.

From the photo it looks that 9mm 156gr might be a bit long for the Shadow chamber... Did you had a chance to do a black marker test to check if chambered bullet is hitting the rifling?
