Worst rifle you ever bought?

Nobody mentioned the Baikal Single shot rifles... I had a 308 and tried 10 different boxes of ammo and it shot poorly with all of the ammo. As much as I like a single shot I would never buy another Baikal.
 
Had a Stevens 325 in .30-30. Crappy mag. Bolt handle fell off. When I got it finally fixed, I took it out for its intended purpose as a truck gun. I saw a wolf cross the road about 100 meters ahead on the highway. Stopped the truck, quickly loaded a mag and chambered a round. As I opened the door to jump out and shoot, the gun went off INSIDE THE CAB. I blew out the windshield (which sent glass shards into my face/eyes) and got a disorienting concussion-like affliction. I fell out of the truck and was temporarily blinded. My hand was nowhere near the trigger.....I had one hand on the gun on the end of the stock near the barrel. Thankfully someone came by and helped me flush out my eyes. I got home (bloody freezing as I had only half a windshield at -32c and had to drive 140km) to see what caused it. When I took the action out of the stock , half a spring fell out. The spring that keeps the tension of the sear snapped, allowing the firing pin to fly forward causing the FOR REAL ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE. The muzzle was about 1 foot from my face when it went off. Still my fault for loading the round in the truck but who could foresee THAT kind of failure? Anyhow, that p.o.s. is now my most excellent door prop/emergency canoe paddle. I got lucky that time. The tinnitus is pretty bad since....

The only thing it was good for was dispatching something in a snare if it was not moving and three feet away, pop cans at 15 yards were safe.

Remington 597 vtr, no matter what parts I replaced or what ammo I used it would jam 95% of the time. My last ditch option was going to be to grind some weight off the bolt but I never got around to it and it has been in my safe forgotten for the last 7 years.

My worst purchases were remington also. Factory issues and the worst warranty in the business. I avoid rem guns now
 
M305. As much as I wanted to love the rifle it was a constant battle keeping it running. Rear sight fell apart after 5 rounds. The rifle would have constant function check issues, replaced the stock and trigger group with GI parts. Bolt catch didn't understand what "bolt catch" means, rifle would shoot about 2 feet low and other problems I can't think of off the top of my head.

After I finally fixed everything and got it running as it should I tossed it on the EE. However since I knew that another problem would inevitably occur I took it off the EE as I didn't feel like cursing anyone on here.

I ended up trading it for a 1914 built Dominon of Canada Proof marked model 94 in 30-30 at a local store. I sure lost financially but I'm way happier with the old 94!
 
remington VTR in 308, looked neat with the triangle shaped barrel with built in brake, but holy crap, that thing hated all types of ammo, from factory rolled to hand rolled, nothing would get under 2.5 inches at 100 yards, and factory couldnt get on paper at 200 yards, changed everything i could, checked everything i could, adjusted multiple times, had gunsmiths check it, it just hated me, so i sold it and got a shotgun, least i knew it would be a big spread at 50 yards.lol

Funny........a good friend had one. He had similar issues immediately. No ammo would shoot well and everything was keyholing IF it got on paper. I removed the bolt thinking it must have had damage somewhere in the bore, or rough chatter marks causing bad fouling. It was WAY WORSE than that. It had NO RIFLING WHATSOEVER!! A smoothbore .308.

+1 for those triangle barreled Remington's. Except for the overall lack of accuracy it was also a one shot considering the internal mag didn't work.
 
Used Rem 700 in 243 Win. The rifle would lock up after every shot and it took a lot of effort and leverage to open the bolt. Paid a "smith" a few hundred bucks to diagnose and he gave it back after nearly 6 months with a shrug and a "no idea" look. Said he polished the chamber and lapped the bolt lugs.

I sold the rifle as an action to another smith who later told me that rifle had the worst chamber to bore misalignment he had ever seen. He recut the barrel threads and rebarreled the action. Shoots good now he tells me! Lost several hundred bucks on that one but I couldn't stiff someone knowing the gun had an problem.
 
The only rifle that tried to kill me was a Norinco M14, so I'll go with that.

Fit and finish are a what you see is what you get issue. Accuracy varies and has more to do with ammo than guns. Function might be able to be fixed.

Dangerous is unnforgivable.
