Cousin had one with a clip, would not feed. I still have the one I bought new with the tube magazine, it still shoots great; feeds perfect and when we hunted in the early 80s, it killed over 1000 racoon. It still hits the bulseye, and the wife loves it too!

Lots of posts about best rifles...but what about your worst?

Mine was a used rifle from a very well known Canadian gun importer and was a well known European brand. The ad admitted that the stock had been painted and the clip magazine was missing so the price had been lowered some...but obviously not enough. When it arrived I also found that the barrel had been shortened, hack-sawed off on about a 45 degree angle. Okay, easy enough to fix. And I had a spare clip for it. Then I figured I could remove the paint and refinish the wood Except that under the paint I found the stock had been reshaped and built up, but not with wood or even plastic wood. Instead, fully a third of the stock was made out of Plaster of Paris!!!...Plaster of Paris? I gave away the stock and sold the rifle as an action only. Took a bit of a loss on that rifle and I don't deal with that importer any longer. But it was almost worth it just for the humor...Plaster of Paris? Who does that?"

And....I'm still winning.
 
Still a toss up between a lakefield 22, that had so many sharp edges on it you literally needed bandaids after using it, and a Zastava mini mauser in 7,62X39 that was an awful POS, with a useless extractor.
 
Near the biggining of my CGN arrival.
Bought a Savage 99 in 250-3000.
Was my fathers rifle, was stated in the EE ad.
Worn out barely a parts gun.
Kept my rebuttal to this seller in my pm just as a reminder never to
deal with this ........ uhm...........oh, individual again.
And the 32 special from the clown.

Nuff typed.
 
I bought a Savage 24 on the EE quite a few years back, in 30-30 over 20 gauge. I took one shot with it and the 30-30 didn't go off, light primer strike.

The second shot was a 20 gauge target load, front handguard came off, and the action opened lol

I took it to the gunsmith, he told me it's good the 30-30 didn't work, the rifle was so unsafe. He also found all kinds of cracks in the buttstock, and rust in hard to find places.

Oh and of course, it wasn't the seller's fault, he told me a good cleaning would fix everything and most gunsmiths are just negative people. This was the only time I have ever left negative feedback.
 
Almost forgot..............I bought a used Mossberg 5500 semiauto shotgun in 12 guage. The thing literally came apart after the 3rd shot. OMFG. Scared the shyt out of me. Unfixable POS. Still have the pile of pieces in a closet , littering the floor.
 
In the early 90s, I bought a Kimber bolt action in .243
Extremely rough, gritty action. The exact opposite of smooth.
Tried many times to remedy it. Never got it to my satisfaction.
Hated that rifle till the day I gave it away.
I never bought another Kimber product.

I had a late 80s stainless ruger ranch 223 same problem great gun, wouldnt shoot straight like i mean real bad

Yup, the thing was, they made great guns back then; some would say now; and they let those out the door... no more Rugers for me... I was tempted to give one of their Mk IV pistols a try; and then there was the recall and stupid long wait time for the warranty work. I get far better and faster service on Norinco stuff I have bought.
 
After owning a good variety of firearms, here is my list of worst.
Remington 740 semiauto [Jam-a-matic].
Remington 600 350 Magnum [kick like a mule].
New marlin Model 1895, [kick like a mule].
Cooeys semiauto 22's [jam-a-matic]

Best in my opinion
Old Remingtons 700's in 30-06, 25-06, 7mm Magnum and 338 Magnum
Top of the line Savages, [with accutrigger and Accustock]
I have 1 Weatherby in 223, [Vanguard], I would buy another one in a heartbeat.
I would never buy another rifle without a detachable magazine

I had a sporterized Lee Enfield that shot Minute of Crap plus the front sight had to be pounded over to the extreme edge to get it on target. I'm thinking the barrel was bent. The barrel had Property of Surrey RCMP stenciled on it so who knows what happened. I'm guessing they had to change a flat and couldn't find the jack handle.
 
Rem 700 sps in 22-250, bought used locally and payed to much. The last 6" of the barrel was pitted to hell had it cut and re crowned. Whatever remingion uses on there barrels is garbage I oiled the hell out of it still had rust problems.
 
I have owned 3 ruger minis, a 14 in stainless that I used for predator control and shot many critters with it, a pair of 582's mini 30s that have performed very well. I bought one on this forum that "would not shoot worth a Dam! " full disclosure. Owner tried a few different brands of ammo, hated it. I bought it cheap, as a project, loaded it with PPU RN SP ammo and it shot just fine cycled good. I still have that one. It is not the first rifle that I have owned that is ammo fussy, definitely not junk. Love the minis, not long range target guns but awesome killin tools.
