Worth rebarreling a crush-fit S&W revolver?

I have a S&W 19-5 K-frame .357 with a bent and bulged barrel (squib incident when lent to a friend). The bulge is half-way and it's bent downwards at that point. The friend has reimbursed me for the cost I paid for the revolver so no issues there. My question is if it's worth trying to get it rebarrelled or not. From what I've read online, removing a crush-fit barrel requires some special action vice blocks and barrel vice blocks specific to the frame and barrel profiles and trying to jurry rig something often leads to a bent/warped/cracked frame. There's also the issue of sourcing a new barrel. Does anyone know of a gunsmith in Canada who stocks S&W crush-fit barrels? Or a gunsmith in Canada who does this work? Online most posts I read are from the US and they say to just mail it to S&W's gunsmith shop as their prices aren't terrible and you know it'll be done right. Being in Canada that isn't really an option for me.

If it'll cost more than $300, I'm likely to just stick it in the back of my safe for the rest of eternity and buy a new .357. I didn't pay too much for the revolver as it is. I kind of assume that'll be the case but figured I'd ask and see if anyone else had done this.

Murray Charleton Enterprises.

I’ve never met or heard of an unhappy customer who used his services. I had him go over a S&W 14; great work, great timeframe, reasonable price.

Good luck.

Unless you source a really cheap barrel, can't see it coming in at under 300. But as TT indicates, call Murray. I was going to rebarrel a model 15 combat masterpiece and it was going to come in well north of 300. The cost is in the barrel and refinishing. If you find a cheap barrel and don't care about a patch work finish, the cost will be less.

An older model 19 with a 4.25" barrel would be legit imo. Definitely worth getting a quote if you were so inclined.

you can get 5 in victory barrel new for about 100.oo, I have a couple but have not tried them yet.
38s-w 38 sp should be fine from what I have read, would look like crap on a real nice 19 high gloss
I have seen bulged barrels, but don't know how that would bend it? 375Mag, or 38 sp?, picture would be nice
