Absolutely not. I'm the same way, like a little kid at Christmas when I score a nice haul of brass.

I reload 9mm and 40S&W...do you save money? well, that's a loaded question...the rounds do save you money but I just find I shoot twice as much...LOL
You'll feel really smug when you stock on consumables now, then see prices skyrocket over the next year.
Ammo shortage? heheh not here...
My problem with consumables is that I, well, consume them. 25+ lbs of powder, 8K+ primers and bullets in less than a year. Hmmm....
Whoa, do you live at the range?![]()

Think I'm getting a fetish for the stuff, take it to the tumbler and always admire how shiney it looks after lol
LOL, and I thought I was the only one who looked at brass that way. I shoot a couple mags then go pickup my brass and then I might as well pick up this case that's next to mine... Oh look, another case... oh another... oh one more... lol
Damn it, I'm a brass hoarder!!

8k... I went through more than that in a month before the IPSC Nationals last year... didn't help me much.
10 minutes to sort the 9mm brass from everything else. I use the Shell Sorter things. 2 minutes to put it in the SS tumbler. 10 minutes to empty and rinse the brass. Once dry, in my old dehydrator, it's ready to load. On my Dillon 1050, less than an hour for 1000 rounds, on the XL 650, maybe an hour and 20 minutes.
All in all, 2 hours to get 1000 rounds of 9mm ready.
Without including small incidentals (power, water, soap, lemishine, etc) and reusing brass I am at $100 for 1k plated bullets. $27+tax for 1k primers and about $25 for powder for 1k rounds. I'm at 16 cents tops for a round of 9mm. That's twice as much shooting for the cost of factory ammo.
Wow!! That's fast. It used to take me 3 evenings at a good pace to knock that out with a turret press!! With the right set up, it looks like reloading might be the way to go. All this talk about shinny brass is getting the interest peaked again!!
