Worth reloading 9mm

I reload 9mm and 40S&W...do you save money? well, that's a loaded question...the rounds do save you money but I just find I shoot twice as much...LOL

this is my problem to...i picked up a bunch of 243 brass one day, realized i sold my 243 a month earlier, so i did what any self respecting gun nut would do, , i went a bought a 243 so i had something to use all that brass in..lol, the more i pick up , the more i shot, i jsut started loading for my .45 , instantly my weekly round count went way up..lol

You'll feel really smug when you stock on consumables now, then see prices skyrocket over the next year.
Ammo shortage? heheh not here...

My problem with consumables is that I, well, consume them. 25+ lbs of powder, 8K+ primers and bullets in less than a year. Hmmm....

I don't count my cost of brass since its all free to me, I have a couple pals that save me theirs as well as whatever I pick up. As soon as I find some lead I'll start casting my own bullets also.

Think I'm getting a fetish for the stuff, take it to the tumbler and always admire how shiney it looks after lol

LOL, and I thought I was the only one who looked at brass that way. I shoot a couple mags then go pickup my brass and then I might as well pick up this case that's next to mine... Oh look, another case... oh another... oh one more... lol

Damn it, I'm a brass hoarder!!

My form of personal jewelry :)

I had stocked up on a lot of $25 per pound pistol powder a few years ago, combined with my own cast bullets and 3 cent primers from Canada Ammo makes for a load cheap to shoot.

10 minutes to sort the 9mm brass from everything else. I use the Shell Sorter things. 2 minutes to put it in the SS tumbler. 10 minutes to empty and rinse the brass. Once dry, in my old dehydrator, it's ready to load. On my Dillon 1050, less than an hour for 1000 rounds, on the XL 650, maybe an hour and 20 minutes.

All in all, 2 hours to get 1000 rounds of 9mm ready.

8k... I went through more than that in a month before the IPSC Nationals last year... didn't help me much.

Ow, that's rough. The 8K and another 5K or so of factory rounds have really helped me a lot. I've improved all the way from a suckingly pathetically bad shot to being a merely lousy one. :p

Wow!! That's fast. It used to take me 3 evenings at a good pace to knock that out with a turret press!! With the right set up, it looks like reloading might be the way to go. All this talk about shinny brass is getting the interest peaked again!!

Without including small incidentals (power, water, soap, lemishine, etc) and reusing brass I am at $100 for 1k plated bullets. $27+tax for 1k primers and about $25 for powder for 1k rounds. I'm at 16 cents tops for a round of 9mm. That's twice as much shooting for the cost of factory ammo.

I 100% agree. And if you enjoy reloading like I do as a secondary hobby to shooting, it is totally worth it ;)

Just my .19 cents.

A nice Dillon 650 and a SS tumbler makes Jack a happy boy
