Hi guys,
I was at a verificator's house tonight and the guy has a rifle to sell.
First of all. I have many rifles and probably don't need another one right now but............
It is a Marlin lever 45-70govt 4 shot tubular mag with buckhorn rear sight and slim brass front sight with original thin hard recoil pad, nothing like the ones that comes with the new rifles. The rifling doesn't have 6 groove but multiple grooves, at least double of them, he told me the term employed to describe it but I can't remember, was holding the rifle and my mind fluttered a bit as I was seeing myself using that rifle and I missed what he was saying..
Don't know anything about these rifles as I never owned either a lever gun and/or 45-70govt cal. She just looks so nice and felt just right in my hands. It is not a new gun but near mint condition. Don't know the model; think it's something like 18?? or 88?
Price asked --BOUGHT IT--$450 including dies bullet mould and couple of brass. I think it is a good price but what do you guys think? Do these Marlin lever rifles work well? What is the range of the 45-70govt and how about the recoil on these big bore? Any problems hunting moose with these? How about accuracy?
All info is welcomed as I need to give him my answer later this week...
Thanks
PaulT
