Would you consider bringing in Norinco 97 bullpups? (Part Deux)

At a $800ish ticket price, would you buy a 97A bullpup?

SOB!

Can someone please convince Norinco to add a half inch!

With their arms being banned for import to the US im sure Canada is the next biggest Civillian market for them, I wouldn't be surprised if they start selling them with barrels from LMG or Sniper version.

I have two designs in mind for the mag release. One is righty only and one is ambi. Both require the old release removed. Since I will buy a 97 in any case, I will make the prototype with my parts. I would like to know how to remove the existing release. I might be able to begin my work with 1:1 photographs though.

Your objections are a tad passé for a thread with over 300 enthusiastic responses.

And your comment is largely self-serving.

My sincerest apology. I didn't mean to piss on your Corn Flakes. Next time, I'll make sure my views conform to the majority before I post.

IMO, $800 is a reasonable price for this rifle, if it's not Norinco, the price could be $2000 for the same "low quality and finish".

The price could also be $500. Surely, you jest? $2,000? I suppose you'd be willing to pay that much too?

It's a waste of time to use reasoning on him.

I didn't say the price should be $500. All the rampant speculation here over price is a bit silly. I was trying to point out it could be any price, how do we know?

I do believe this thread is being watched very closely. It probably will have some influence on how the rifles will be marketed. Afterall, why charge $650 when they're prepared to pay $800? Canadians, in general, certainly like to pay more than what they have to or at least should.

Cause 650$ (if it was possible to get them that cheap) would push fence sitters like me to buy it possibly. The more expensive it is the more likely people will look at other options.

At 1,000$ I'd have to say no way, personally, kinda like buying a M14S for that amount of money. Why bother, double it and I'll get a rifle of the same caliber and "cool" factor as it but made in a free country.

Some dealers give a high price and say take it or leave it. Through this forum we have established a middle ground on the 97. The locked thread established that $800-ISH is to be the going price. I will not ask for less, and I'm pretty sure that will be the end cost, and no more. It is a gentleman's agreement of sorts. If this is unclear and you are here just to bash Norinco, go to this thread...

Where did I once bash them? I've already told you once that I would continue to own them if the price is in line with reasonable expectations for the quality of the product.

And just what do you think the quality of the type 97 is? Have you inspected or shot one? If you are comparing the 97 to the other Norcs you've owned you would be very surprised by the 97. What Norcs do you own? I've owned many and the 97 is far superior (in fit and finish) than any I've owned. You have to remember that Norinco is basically a marketing firm, as far as I understand it their firearms are manufactured in a bunch of different plants. Quality from brand to brand is not the same.

Last I checked both Israel (Travor) and the United States (AR-15 and a whole lot of other "tacticool" firearms) are still free countries. :dancingbanana:

Dimitri

Something like 45% or more of the people in Israel are Government employees living behind walls and barbed wire surrounded by hostiles who want to push them into the sea, and the USA in many cases has more restrictions on freedoms then Cold War Russia (case in point the ATF nazis)...but that's another story. :D

Besides which Swiss Arms is the way to go anyway. :D

Err, last I checked back in the Cold War, owning a personal firearm in the Soviet Union meant having a goverment sponered trip to the Gulags. I don't see the ATF rounding up all the gun owners and sending them to camps. :runaway:

As for SwissArms "Specials" they are also in the running. They are also a free country. ;)

By the way does Swiss Arms sell their 40mm Lancher (which should be non-restricted like the M203 if I remember right) to the public ??

I was just wondering the same thing about the Swiss Arms rifles, also I was wondering about the 'nade launcher for these type 97s.
