If you could modify it to being a soft canvass or mesh brass catcher I'd be in, as I hate crawling around picking up brass at the range.

I have some design ideas based on other types currently in production.

You'd be crawling around about ten yards in front of you around 2:00. This thing LAUNCHES the brass forward right...one of the reasons there is hope for the lefties and this design. Don't use the far right bay at JDF or you'll be searching for brass in the weeds and trees:D.

Anyone with a Type97 and a Swiss Arms?
I'd love to see some side by side pictures of the bolt/action ;).
Might give us a good idea of the quality differences.

To answer the PMs:

As for the deflector, anyone interested shoot me a PM so I know numbers. Of course, I will have to experiment with the design to get three things:

Case deflection
Cheek weld
Brass catcher bag attachment

While this is for lefties, the design I envision will not interfer with right hand use if brass catching is the only thing you need.

Deck you really should do a Type 97 Sticky....you are be good at that type of thing. The mods are going to come fast and furious once this thing gets in people hands and they discover how great it really is. Right now people think it's just another Norinco which does not do it justice at all.

On another note, I think an S&B short dot, Horus Vision Talon, or IOR 1.5-8x26 CQB Illuminated Tactical Scope would be a great combo for the non restricted 97. It's so friggen short you forget the barrel is over 18 inches. The dual role scopes would be perfect on a set of the lowest mounts you can find. People shouldn't worry about cheek weld, it's not as bad as mounting optics on a VZ 58 or SKS, I don't even notice it with my Aimpoint, though admittedly it mounts very low (which is why I chose it).

I might just do that Clobb. I think it talks about the obvious differences, but I've seen 5.56mm versions with the second mini grip lower too. Speaking of which, I will be experimenting with plastic to form a second mini grip that can be epoxied on.
