Would you consider importing the Norinco JS 9mm SMG (Type 97 style SMG)?

Would you buy one of these if the price was reasonable?

We are talking about 5.8 pistol ammo.

Which is exactly what Armedsask is talking about.

honestly, you really think the Chinese are going to sell you 5.8 ammo? don't delude yourselves. The entire thread in that regard is a bit of an exercise in futility...just a thought.

Yes.
There isn't a Chinese merchant who will say no to money. That is immoral.

It is more about how much more they can sell it and make out of you!

If someone told you a Chinese is not going to sell you something - either he is lying or he is trying to jack the price on the spot because he has a warehouse full of gadgets he wants to "make" the market!!!

hmmm, do I detect an undertone of taiwan to mainland china animosity?

Look, all I'm saying is that just because you wouldn't mind something in Canada hardly means that it would even be a reality. Sure, I'm sure any pragmatic Chinese businessman would love to sell you a gun chambered in 5.8 and associated ammo, but the Chinese government is not a person...its more like a blob of goo that continually wants to increase is mass and consumption, and doesn't want to let go of anything it doesn't have a lot of. But then again, i only post things on canadiangunnutz forums so I don't know a whole hell of a lot.

What's your point?

Why do we want a calibre that is a one gun in canada calibre, just makes it harder to get and any importers of the ammo can really charge what ever they like... I think 9mm is much more realistic and easier to get a hold of.

The 5.8 is the Chinese answer to FN 5.7 and HK 4.6 PDW rounds. The ammo supply cannot be worse than the FN and HK round.

There aren enough 9mm carbines in the market already - most people will just buy a Storm, since they can use 10rd magazines and are pretty cheap already.

A 5.8 subgun will fill in the niche of the FN PS90 and HK MP7 market.

Exactly. I was on the failed MP7 list. It's perhaps the "it will never happen" syndrome. But if we can't envision something on a forum, it will never happen. Who would have thought bullpups would be coming in at all, and some at really good prices?
