Would you hide a loan from your wife to buy a gun?

That sounds like the dreams I should have. I just got a dillion 650 press for 300.00.
This is how I would put it.
You are earning the money you are spending?
You are a grown man?
Your family has all there financial needs meet?
You put food on the table and no one goes hungry?
Your not living pay chq to pay chq?
If you can answer yes to all of those then I do not see a problem in purchasing the rifle.
I do see a problem in hiding your spending from your significant other as I'm sure you would have a problem if she did the same to buy a purse or shoes.
Tell her that you are buying the rifle, that you respect the fact that she does not understand why you want to but it is something that you can afford to do and will do.
If she has an issue with you spending your hard earned money and all the above answers were yes then I think you need to have a bigger talk with the wife.

This has been an entertaining topic to say the least. Its smart you didn't lie to your wife, but you do need to enjoy your life. Ask your wife why she feels this way? It has been stated guns hold their value, you have a hobby that can be turned into cash again if you need it. I can almost guarantee her hobbies or spending habbits can be made to look worse then guns.
My girlfriend and I split everything right down the middle. Mortgage, utilities, groceries, all of our fixed spending. We take care of our own vehicles, payments, repairs, insurance. We both put money into savings and RRSPs, whatever is left I can pend on whatever I want... Which is probably going to be black rifle project. We both make our equel payments of the living expenses and she never questions what I buy, and she rides horses, so chances are my hobby is cheaper anyway!
