Yes, definately. For large and small game. The same criteria and guidelines that apply to rifle and archery use are applicable here as well. Basically knowing your abilities, limitations and staying within them.

Earlier on, I had made inquiries into hunting Moose in Alaska using a 500 S&W but I'll need a little assistance from Loto 649 first.

I would if allowed for only large game w/ large Caliber . It'd be great to carry while skipping over our energy sapping bogs !

I might. I don't think there is a humanitarian issue if done right. Same as bow. Get within bow range, <20m, and shoot. The only problem that I see is safety issues with people pointing a short barrel revolver all over the bush. I suspect the people that would cause this problem cause similar problems in all their endeavors in live though.

Dam skippy I would... some of the newer magnums, 454 casull, 460 and 500 s&w have similar numbers to a 30-30 at 100 yards so why not. Any elk at 50 yards would be in big trouble with a good bullet from anything bigger than a 44mag.

I like this attitude.

A friend and I were out yesterday punching a gong a 50 yards pretty consistently.
We had a old pair of 3 screw ruger SA revolvers.
Great way to spend 1/2 an afternoon.

My club has a lot of hand gun shooters.
For many it is all point and spray from 10 yards.

Picture a group of young males, hunting for the 1st time, with IPSC style guns.

Or perhaps highly regulated...
Proven 10 years experience
SA revolvers only
manditory skill test
44 mag and factory hunting ammo as minimum power factor

I would be shopping here...

Doesn't need to be highly regulated at all. Simply put a "running elg" shooting qualification on the license, as they do in Sweden. Should do this for any big game shooting anyway. - dan

Within effective range of course.

Oh yeah, a good quality sixgun in .44 Magnum fits the bill for big game (deer/black beer).........and any decent 38 Special for the smaller critters.
Just keep archery range in mind, & lots of patience, and there would be no problem here.
