I'm conflicted on this. Cattle are fine to eat, but horses, which are pets, are not. Eating dogs or cats (which might well be very tasty) is strictly verbotten and considered perverse and primitive, but hogs, which are much more intelligent are in every supermarket.

To me, an animal is an animal, and regardless of species is not equal to a person -as someone said,"their place in God's kingdom is beside the mashed potatoes". The movie "Bambi" probably did more to villify hunters than anything else - we have people who think that there are little animal communities that play together, with mommies singing bedtime stories as they tuck their young into bed. Once we make one deer special, why aren't they all?

I'd have no moral qualms about shooting it, but probably wouldn't - the darn thing is tame (but tasty), and the fallout that would result is not worth any other possible point the shooter might try to make.

anyone that voted yes SUCKS
and not just attitude wise , if you cant find a bigger buck than that go HOME
now like said before if it was big kill it

are you kidding me? believe it or not, but theres alot of hunters that go for meat instead of a rack;)

id shoot the damn thing and hang its head below that sign with a small piece of pepperoni i made out of him :D

Hell YES!

With all the animals that I have shot (big and small game) I felt (1) the pride of harvesting, (1) a sense of sorrow for killing a living being, and (3) a sense of thanks to the animal for providing meat for my family and me. With Buttons, I would also feel a duty to correct a wrong - that he never got to develop into the true wild creature he was meant to be.

Hunters seem to be much more connected to "where we come from" - hunter gatherers - than people like the ones that tamed Buttons. They are the ones that are doing a disservice to the wild, not hunters.

Very good statement. I only have one problem. 1+1=2
Refer to my signature. :D :D :D

I would totally shoot buttons.

Its also a damn good thing those 'buttons' are camo. Because, you know, a deer that sticks out is a dead deer for predators.

Had to bring ti back from the dead, eh? This truly is a classic.

And yes, Buttons would make it's way into my freezer. Small place to live and small freezer means a small deer.

Considering the animal has shed it's antlers by now and spent time in the wilderness, this is a moot point. Besides if the mental midget that tried this stunt tries to do it again this year and gets gored or otherwise by the "pet deer", serves them right!

Well said. Best thing posted on this hunting forum! :)

yup if it is not inside a game farm fence. I would shoot it. the idiot that put the ribbon on the deer should be wrapped in ribbon and run threw town with a big sign that say I'am stuipid I play with wild animals.

I'd shoot buttons, and not just because he's tender. Picture that deer in two years, when he's mature and going into rut. He will be quit a handful for the teary eyed little girl when he decides to kick the #### out of her, or one of her friends. Wild animals are WILD. They cannot be completely tamed.

Don't catch your meaning. Are you saying a wild deer in rut wouldn't be a hazard to a child that doesn't understand it's behaviour?
