I'm thinking that sometime later this summer there should be a set of regional 213 owner's meets for folks to get together and meet up, discuss mods and fixes, show off the toys, do some shootin' and eat junky hotdogs and generally revel in our cheapness that led us to buy these $99 uber bargains.

What'ch'all say to that?

I volunteer to run the lower mainland version.

Or we can do a 213 HONOUR MATCH like we are doing for the SKS http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=308265

I hope they'll still have stock in 2-3 months. I just passed my PAL/RPAL exams last weekend. I want to order 2 (2nd one for spare parts).

Side note: I want a S&W 29 or 629... and a Glock 17.. Not sure what the Onatrio CFO is going to think IF I decide to buy this many firearms before joining a club!?

I've always been under the impression that you need to be a club member before the transfer of restricted firearms to you will be approved in Ontario.

That is what I was taught in the safety course just in October of last year, but they were OK with transferring my 213 with just a, "Will be joining..." type note.... So who knows..:)

What's this? Is common sense finally manifesting itself in the Ontario CFO's office?! :D

I just took the course last weekend and the instructor said that you can buy a restricted first before joining a club. Furthermore, an ATT cannot be issued unless you owned a restricted and a member of a club, of course. I'm like huh? After reading a bunch of threads here, all I know is that in Ontario, you can buy a restricted before joining a club. Good enough answer for me. I'll worry about all the red tape later. It can take me months before I can even shoot on my own at the club I want to join anyway.

I don't think I'll be able to buy the infamous $99 handgun. It'll probably be sold out by the time I get my RPAL. :-( And unfortunately, no... I don't know anyone that has a RPAL that would buy some for me. Double :-(

I LIKE IT! I'd still like to see a get together just because it's fun to see and talk to the owners but it would be sweet to include a 213 only Honour Match along with the day's activities.

Do what I did. Pay for them before you get your R-PAL and have the owners hold them pending the arrival of your PAL and ATT. Then let them know your PAL number and they'll submit the transfer and ship to you once they get the transfer papers. I had a total of three at shops waiting and two from fellow Gun Nutz waiting for this so I got 5 restricteds transferred to me within about 2 weeks of my ATT arriving. Nothing at all shadey about it since only money changes hands. There needs to be a level of trust of course and with the stores this is a given. And similarly all my deals so far with Gun Nutz have been 100% honorable and frankly I'd count the risk of a shadey deal as insignificant.

I even phoned Canada Ammo before my R-PAL came in to ask them if they'd accept payment and hold them for me pending my papers being in order. The response at the time was yes they could but they had so many that it wouldn't be a problem. So call then on their toll free line and order one or two and explain your time frame on getting your PAL and ATT.

In the meantime go join a club. You can be a club member without having a PAL or gun. If they won't accept you then find another club. But I'd be very, very surprised if they turn you away given you've already submitted your application.

PS: I love shooting the .44Magnums but with a 29 or 629 by the time I've shot a full cylinder the Hogue grips on the one I've used have almost torn my skin and generally my hand has had enough. Now .357 Mags on the other hand are huge fun and I can easily go through 2 or 3 cylinders worth in a row without numbing my hand. YMMV and this was with factory ammo. If you reload you can tailor the load to suit yourself.

Hey, thanks for the info! I'll see what Can Ammo would do for me. As for clubs, I'm still in search for one. My local one wants over $600 for annual membership and $500 2nd year. I'm trying to find a place that is cheaper. I don't think I can shoot that much to get my $'s worth.

Looking forward to do some target shooting soon or do non-restricted at shooting range and on crown land (more research required in this department). I miss firing some rounds, especially shooting handguns in the Arizona desert amongst giant cacti. My cousin (lives in Cali) and I felt like we were in the old west! Too bad that's never going to happen in Canada. lol

Okay... I mine as well ask this dumb question for an Ontarian here. I can't seem to find an answer about buying restricted online. What is the process on my side besides submitting my license # and hitting the buy it button?

TIA!

He might be able to get an Associate membership at Target for cheap which fits all the legalities.... not 100% sure they offer one mind you, just know the shooting edge does and they have some ties

Woah! Yikes. I think silvercore offers club memberships for cheap, $15 for past students and $30 for everyone else:

Nice! I wish I can join your club! But I'm in Toronto. :-( This place is about 15 mins from me and the facilities are EXCELLENT (target-sports.ca). I looked elsewhere and it appears to be around $300. I don't think any of these clubs offer associates fee. Game over. I think I need to eat it and just join the $600 club. Other clubs are too far away and savings would be lost in lots of gas and time. But I'm still looking, not aggressively yet...

Oh well... Back on topic... I just emailed Canammo and asked if I can just pay for it now and hold it for me for 2-3 months.

I tell you guys what ... this is no waste of money!!! I put 300rnds through both of mine this weekend.... 100 145grLRN, 100 115gr UMC, 100 124grFNMJ.... not even a hickup..... I am kinda impressed with the units (I have 2).... Accuracy goes to a 10" group at 20 yards but at 12yrds I am still under 5"

Here is what mine does from 15 meters. 5 groups - right now it shoots down/right off center. I was just turning the target 90 degrees for each group.

First step in my M213 modification:

Wood grips, I made then much thicker, the gun now fits my hands much better.

That was exactly my plan!!!!

How did you attach them?

I got my tracking number today and the girlfriends still away for another month... So I'll be trying that kind of stuff when they get here. Cleaning, smoothing, polishing, grips... I got two in case I just wreck one. Then I have parts :)

Ryan

BTW... That looks awesome.
