Fair point. I will qualify my "don't do it" advice. If you can afford it (sounds iffy in this case)... by all means, please buy and register and safely store away as many restricted firearms as you can afford. More of these in good folks' possession is a Good Thing. If only statistically...

I'd say go for it. If it sits in the safe for a month, who cares? Contrary to popular belief, your #### won't fall off if you don't shoot 1000 rounds a week.:D
Sounds like you just need to budget a little bit.

Speaking for myself, I've saved receipts for a month from absolutely everything, and that will show you how much room for savings there really is. Of course, once you start saving on everything, you end up pouring it out on firearm stuff anyways.:)

I don't know where you live exactly, but Mission rod and gun has a $35 membership for students. Also, I know other ranges like the one in abbotsford has an associate fee when you have another membership. The fee comes down to like $40 or so. Hunt around. You might find a good enough deal somewhere.
 
H Wally is South Island based I believe. Cheapest range access here is Juan de Fuca Gun Club, but they've had to cap membership (too much publicity in places like - ahem - CGN!). JDF comes in at $40 for a single I believe.
 
Range report-ish

I just got back from the range and I had a hoot of a time. The thing is, I'm not a discerning shooter so take all this for what it's worth. The first thing is Pontcanna is right, it does have some feed issues. We ran about 10 magazines through it and had five or six feed failures. We were shooting factory ammo so your guess is as good as mine on why. As far as accuracy it shoots quite well but the sights are a aligned just a tad right. We were also shooting my 1944 Tokarev, a Berretta 96 .40, and a short barreled Smith and Wesson RCMP issue in 9mm. While I'm not the expert my brother felt the Tokarev was the most accurate of the 4, surprisingly, but he now wants the link to CanAm.

That's another referral, CanAm, when do I get my free gift :D

I am SO pissed!!!! :D I brought the new norinco to the range, TPNS of ammo....I brought the WRONG key to the trigger lock!!! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

so my fun will have to wait till i go up next lol :D:D

Was gonna have a shoot off beyween my Glock 34, 92F, Hi-Power, and the M213!!!!

lol, thats why I have all my trigger locks the combo style, never forget the key :)

If you find a small piece of wire you can usually defeat the little buggers. Just have to push the spring back.

Take a moment to pull it apart and figure out how it works and you won't get caught out again;)

Dont worry. I ordered 18 or 19 Dec and just got mine. Yours will likely be processed and delivered soon!

Its like waiting for Christmas to arrive though isnt it. (When you were a kid)

I felt like that at least.
 
Ordered 18th dec and received it today!! yeh!! just like Christmas! now just have to get to the range and try this puppy out against my other 9MM's...... not expecting miracles, but hey its all fun!!
Was actually surprised at the quality of it, was expecting a lot worse and was quite happy with it...... :D

Thx again to the folks at CanAm for their patience and fast shipping!!
